EPCSO LAUNCHES OPERATION “BEAT THE HEAT”

July 6, 2017

El Paso, TX – Summer is here, and so is the heat. In an effort to provide citizens of the El Paso County a way to stay cool and hydrated through the summer months, Sheriff Richard D. Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are launching operation “Beat the Heat.”

Every Sheriff’s Office patrol unit will be stocked with a case of water and cooler bag. Deputies will hand out water to citizens they encounter who may need to stay hydrated while patrolling the streets of El Paso County.

The water for the operation was donated by community partners like:

Vista Super Markets –

LNF Distributors

Pepsi

  • Remember to drink water and wear light, loose-fitting clothing to stay cool. And don't forget your sunscreen!
  • Check on neighbors during the hottest days, especially ones who might be more vulnerable to the heat. If you see someone showing signs of a heat-related illness, seek medical attention immediately!
  • Never (ever ever ever ever!) leave pets or children unattended in cars. Temperatures inside closed cars can skyrocket to deadly extremes in just minutes.
