EPCSO CITIZENS’ ACADEMY RECAP

November 9, 2017

El Paso, TX – Sheriff Richard Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office hosted a Citizens’ Academy August 16th – November 8th, 2017.

The academy offered participants a broad overview and unique insight into the various functions of the Sheriff’s Office.  Participants had the opportunity to participate in a ride-along with deputies to observe first hand the variety of calls handled by the Sheriff’s Office.  A tour of the Detention Facilities was conducted to demonstrate the daily duties of our detention staff.  Other topics of discussion included criminal investigation, the investigative process, and other Sheriff’s Office specialized units such as S.W.A.T and Crisis Negotiation.

On Thursday, November 8, 2017, the twenty participants graduated and received a certificate of completion for having completed 36 hours of education.

The Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy is hosted yearly, and we look forward to the 2018 session.
