SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO ENHANCE PATROLS

CINCO DE MAYO

April 30, 2019

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, with funding provided by the Texas Department of Transportation under the 2019 STEP Comprehensive Grant, will be putting out additional deputies as part of Cinco De Mayo Operation.

The enhanced patrol operations will be taking place each day May 3rd through May 5th, 2019 throughout El Paso County. The Sheriff’s Office will conduct intensive patrols within areas of the county where there is a high incidence of crime and traffic crashes.  Deputies will be looking for all types of traffic violations (such as speed, intersection-related, seatbelt, etc.) as well as intoxicated drivers.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that El Paso County is a “no refusal” county.  If a driver is arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and he/she refuses to submit a sample of their breath for analysis, a search warrant will be obtained and a sample of their blood will be taken. That sample will then be submitted for analysis to determine blood alcohol concentration. Either way, the driver will be booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
