El Paso, TX- February Schedule for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office FREE Spay and Neuter Program for residents of El Paso County.

Animals that are spayed or neutered can also receive their microchip, rabies and booster shots FREE. Services cannot be administered independently; you must have the three services done the same day.

The spay and neuter program is open to residents of Horizon City, Vinton, Anthony, Clint, and residents of other unincorporated areas within El Paso County. 

**** Spay and Neuter services will now be available by appointment ONLY. ****

Please take note of the following before booking your spay and neuter appointment.

Ø Appointments are limited per event.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE OFFERS FLAG RETIREMENT BOX TO COUNTY RESIDENTS

El Paso, TX – In partnership with the National Association of Counties and the National Flag Foundation, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has installed a flag retirement box, at no cost to the county, in the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters main lobby.

The United States Flag Code flag etiquette — when the flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

This drop-off location provides residents convenience while respectfully retiring an American flag. The flag retirement box is located in the lobby at Sheriff’s Office Headquarters located at 3850 Justice Dr. Flags should be folded respectfully before being placed in the box.

“We are pleased to provide these flag retirement boxes. Helping residents properly dispose of worn U.S. flags is consistent with our commitment to public service and community engagement.” - NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase.

Media Partners – Please note the press conference will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020, at 9:30 a.m., at Sheriff’s Office Headquarters – 3850 Justice Dr.

El Paso, TX – The Texas Ford Dealers will present a donation to the Sheriff Richard Wiles and the Sheriff’s Office Foundation to show their support of local law enforcement on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Stuart Sliva of Shamaley Ford, as well as representatives from Casa and Viva Ford, will present the check donation on behalf of the Texas Ford Dealers to Sheriff Richard Wiles and Sheriff’s Office Foundation President Robert Fraga.

The El Paso County Sheriffs Foundation is a nonprofit entity that provides philanthropic volunteer work and support to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the community it serves. Through sponsorship, event participation, and donations, the foundation helps enhance the relationship between law enforcement and residents, while promoting healthy living in safe communities under positive circumstances.

WANTED SEX OFFENDER – BARRENTINE, LADON

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from the community in locating Ladon Barrentine.

On January 17, 2020, Ladon Barrentine absconded from the El Paso Multi-Use Facility located at 1700 Horizon Ave. He was allowed a pass to search for a job but never returned to the facility and his whereabouts are now unknown. His last location was at a business located on 9500 block of Gateway West Blvd. He is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Fail to Comply with Sex Offenders Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense is for Criminal Sexual Conduct 4th Degree out of the State of Michigan, the victim being a 15-year-old female. He is on Parole for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle.

CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATOR TO ATTEND FORENSIC CONFERENCE

El Paso, TX- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit will be represented at the 1st Female Leaders Congress in Forensic Sciences in Mexico City March 21-22, 2020.

Crime Scene Investigator Ashley Rosiles will speak at the conference about her role as a CSI with the Sheriff’s Office and her experiences in the field.

      Some of the other topics to be discussed in during the congress will include: 
 
·  The inclusion of women in Public Security Institutions with a hierarchy of command.

· Post Penitentiary Care Model: Prevention with Reintegration.

· Children in contact with the prison system

· The inclusion of women in property security in management and strategic positions

· The arrival of criminal profiling to Ecuador through women; and

· The inclusion of Mexican-American women in the Security Institutions of the United States of America

RELEASE: EL PASO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO HOST CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION WORKSHOP

El Paso, TX- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit will be hosting Crime Scene Investigation Workshop with special guest Dr. Alejandro Dr. world-famous, Forensic Odontologist January 21 – 24, 2020.

The workshop is open to interns, forensics and law enforcement students to review Crime Scene procedure topics such as collection and provide participants with an overview of the Crime Scene Investigator career path.

Dr. Cardenas is a forensic doctor at the prosecutor’s office in Ciudad Juarez who has developed a special technique to rehydrate corpses to help identify them. Dr. Cardenas’ technique is so innovative that in 2016, the Mexican Institute for Industrial Property granted him a patent for his secret formula. Through the rehydration process, the body can regain most it not all of its original condition. Cardenas has used the process on more than 800 sets of remain since 2013.

He has been featured on National Geographic, different news outlets, and has presented his findings many forensic conferences. His attendance at the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Workshop will make this his first time presenting in the United States.
