SHERIFF’S OFFICE JAIL ANNEX REPORTING ZERO POSITIVE COVID CASES

June 5, 2020

El Paso, Texas –. There have been recent reports by health officials advising of a sharp increase in COVID-19 positive cases due to a cluster at a local correctional-detention facility.

The El Paso County Jail Annex, which is operated by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, is located in the same general area of the Rogelio Sanchez State Jail, which is operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

While we cannot comment on the current status of the Rogelio Sanchez State Jail, the El Paso County Jail Annex currently has zero COVID-19 cases

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with medical staff to implement necessary procedures and provide equipment to limit the outbreak of the virus in the workplace and within our inmate population.  This would include providing personal protective equipment to our personnel and the inmates.  Additionally, screenings are required to gain access to any Sheriff’s Office building in order to ensure the safety and well-being of personnel and the public we serve.
