SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS MOST WANTED INDIVIDUAL WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL ACCIDENT

El Paso, TX El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Criminal Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested a most wanted individual wanted in connection with a 2015 fatal accident.

On August 20, 2020, Deputies conducted an investigation following information received on the location of Uriel Anchondo, age 31.

Anchondo was located at a hotel in the 3600 block of Joe Battle Blvd. and was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Manslaughter, Accident Involving Death, Accident Involving Injury totaling $700,000 in bonds.

On January 3, 2015, Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators responded to Interstate 10 and Eastlake Blvd. in reference to an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.

The passenger vehicle struck the guard rail bounced back on the road right in the path of the tractor-trailer, the driver of the tractor-trailer attempted to void the passenger vehicle resulting in the tractor-trailer losing control.

Two occupants from the tractor-trailer were transported to a local area hospital where one victim was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the passenger vehicle fled the scene on foot, and Anchondo was subsequently indicted on charges of Accident Involving Death, Manslaughter, and Accident Involving Injury and has a bond amount totaling $700,000.
