Facing Additional Charges:Assault on a Public Servant and Attempt to take a weapon from A public servant.

El Paso, Texas – On the morning of November 27th, 2022, Joe Watts was arrested for an Assault for Family Violence Warrant by El Paso Police Department. While incarcerated at the El Paso County Jail, he was escorted to University Medical Center by detention staff for a medical appointment. Inmate Watts confronted the nursing staff during his appointment as they attempted to treat Watts. The detention officer escorting Watts attempted to de-escalate the inmate, and Watts kicked the detention officer and attempted to remove the duty weapon from the detention officer’s holster. The detention officer-maintained control of his weapon and prevented Watts from assaulting UMC staff or citizens at the hospital. Joe Watts is facing additional charges of Assault on a Public Servant and Attempt to take a weapon from a public servant with a bond of$10,000.00.
