Biography
Anna Perez currently serves as El Paso County Commissioner for Precinct No. 1, which is the County’s eastside. She took office January 1, 2009. She is also a practicing attorney here in El Paso.
Before taking office, Anna worked for County Attorney Jose Rodriguez as the division chief for the Civil Litigation Unit. In that capacity, she served as the legal advisor for the County Attorney on human resources matters, as well as represented the County, county elected officials and County employees in court. She worked for Mr. Rodriguez for 11 years.
Anna also served as an Assistant District Attorney in El Paso from 1993 to 1996, where she was assigned to the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit as a felony prosecutor. From 1996 to 1997, she worked with the law firm of Gay & Gutierrez in El Paso where her practice consisted primarily of insurance defense and workman’s compensation defense.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Texas at El Paso in December 1989. She received her J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in May 1993.
Anna is a board member of the Mexican American Bar Association, the El Paso Bar Association, and Latinas 100 Professional Women’s Network. As Commissioner, she also serves on the Central Appraisal District Board and the El Paso County Purchasing Board.
She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but has made El Paso home! She is married to Art Fierro and has three children, Jacklyn, Chris and Julianna.
