Anna Perez

  • Current Projects
  •
  • Internal Efficiencies
  • In efforts to improve the efficiencies in the operation of El Paso County, Commissioner Perez is involved in various internal projects. She provides in depth review and guidance to the departments in order to ensure efficient use of your tax dollar. For example, she currently sits on the El Paso County Purchasing Board, which has direct oversight of the County Purchasing Agent. She also participates in the ad hoc committee which is planning the renovation of the second and fourth floors of the courthouse to accommodate additional work space for the District Attorney’s Office and additional courtroom space, both mandated functions for the county.
  •
  • Ethics Commission
  • Commissioner Perez is currently engaged in efforts to advance legislation in the Texas Senate and House of Representatives which will create a County Ethics Commission. This Commission will have the legal authority to investigate and sanction conduct
  •
  • which could lend itself to incidents of corruption. The values of any institution are reflected in the quality of the decisions made by its leaders, employees and those conducting business with that entity.
  •
  • Maintaining the public’s full trust and confidence is accomplished by ensuring that the people within the institution act with utmost integrity and avoid actions that could give the appearance of impropriety. It is essential to recognize the importance of ethics in public service. The creation of an Ethics Commission would set out procedures for implementing and enforcing a Code of Ethics, while also providing protection against frivolous complainants and whistleblower protection to those who come forward with legitimate complaints.
