  • I am a victim in a criminal case. Do I need to hire an attorney to represent me?
  • The case will be represented by the District Attorney's office in all criminal proceedings.

  • How can I drop charges?
  • You need to call Victims Assistance on 546-2091 to speak to a representative who will note your call and answer questions on the legal procedure.

  • What is a Non-Prosecution Statement?
  • This is a legal form in which a victim of family violence states in their own handwriting they wish to drop charges against their abuser. The form needs to be notarized by a Notary Public and may or may not make an impact in the defendant's case. The form may or may not stop the prosecution process against the defendant.

  • Can I check on the status of my case with the District Attorney's office?
  • The District Attorney's office will only speak to the victim or the defendant's lawyer on an ongoing case.
