County Court at Law 2

Each County Court at Law hears both civil and criminal cases. In civil cases, the court exercises concurrent jurisdiction with the District Courts.In criminal cases, the court may hear all Class "A" and Class "B" misdemeanors other than those involving official misconduct and cases in which the highest fine that may be imposed is $500 or less. The Judge of the court is also a member of the Council of Judges of El Paso and as such, takes part in formulating the rules and regulations for the Courthouse and the administration of justice in El Paso County by the district courts and the statutory county courts.
