  • The S.T.A.R.S Annunal Carly Martinez Race for Awareness 2006
  • This event was named after the daughter, of Carlos and Martinez. Carly Martinez was a freshman student in college when she was abducted, raped, and murdered. The race was designed to be a fundraiser and also raise awareness of the crime of sexual assault and abuse in the El Paso community. This race is sponsored by the Sexual Trauma & Assault Response Services (STARS) Rape Crisis Center, and is a competitive 10K run and a 2-mile fun walk held annually at Marwood Park in the Upper Valley.

  • Crime Victims Memorial Walk 2006
  • The District Attorney's Office together with the Crime Victims Rights Council sponsored a meaningful way to honor victims of crime on April 23, 2006. Victims and their families, law enforcement and prosecutors, as well as victims' advocates walked two miles to remember all of those among us who have suffered immeasurable grief and trauma as a result of a criminal act.
