- The Criminal Division is responsible for assisting the courts and attorneys in the assignment of all new criminal suits and other filed pleadings. The Criminal Division works in conjunction with the Jail Magistrate and preindictment pleadings. The Criminal Division issues warrant numbers and coordinates with jail personnel. Criminal case files are stored within this division. The Criminal Division maintains documentation and processing of cash bonds and all ledgers for bail bond forfeitures. Because of the need to provide each of the 13 District and 7 County Courts with a clerk, it is the largest division in the District Clerk's Office. This makes it necessary to divide the division in two.
