  • Created in 1936, the Centennial Museum was the first museum in El Paso and one of the earliest buildings at the College of Mines, now UTEP. Permanent exhibits focus on the Chihuahuan Desert region. Temporary exhibits depict the life and culture of the border area and, more broadly, of the Americas, and also highlight UTEP research and other programs. The extensive gardens display native plants in a variety of settings. Museum open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Gardens open daily during daylight hours. Elevator access from the parking lot entrance.

  • The El Paso County Historical Society is dedicated to researching, preserving and publishing area history, and educating the community about El Paso’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The Society’s home is the historic Burges House in Sunset Heights. Here the Society maintains the Jane Burges Perrenot Research Center, which includes an extensive collection of photographs, archival collections, and postcards. Open Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., or by appointment.

  • 16 - Heritage House Museum at The University of Texas at El Paso

  • The Heritage House preserves the history of UTEP from its origin as the Texas College of Mines in 1914, and is located in a home built in 1921 by the first dean of the College. It features special exhibits for Homecoming, and from time to time during the year. Open Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., or by appointment.

  • The Rubin Center houses three galleries devoted to the exhibition of contemporary art by recognized artists from around the globe. Located just south of Sun Bowl Stadium in an original campus building renovated in 2004, the Rubin Center brings to El Paso recent and compelling ideas in the visual arts. Open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday- Friday, Thursday until 7 p.m., Saturday, noon - 5 p.m.

  • The War Eagles Air Museum, located at the Doña Ana County Airport, features a collection of more than 30 military and civilian aircraft of the World War II - Korean War period, most of them flight-worthy, and over 40 classic or historic automobiles. Among the significant aircraft on display are two North American P-51D “Mustangs” (one of them a very rare two-seat trainer), a Lockheed P-38L “Lightning,” a Vought F4U-4 “Corsair” (considered by many to be one of the finest examples in existence), a Curtiss P-40E “Warhawk,” the world’s oldest flyable Piper J-3 “Cub” and several foreign aircraft, including an exceptionally rare Soviet Tupolev Tu-2, two MiG-15s, a MiG-21 and a German Fieseler “Storch.” Admission charge for visitors over 12, except students with ID. Open Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., last admission at 3:30 p.m. Closed Monday and most holidays.
