  • Director of West Texas Community Supervision and Corrections Department (Adult Probation) in El Paso since March 1990, providing correctional programs to 29 courts in a three-county area. Administers department of more than 330 employees, serving one urban and two rural counties.

  • Employed with Adult Probation in El Paso for 35 years.
  •  
  • Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance, University of Texas at El Paso (1978).

  • Graduated with Honors from University of California, Berkeley, with Bachelors Degree in History.

  • Certified teacher in Secondary Education.
  •  
  • Served as Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) for two years.
  • Chairman of the Probation Advisory Committee (PAC) (2008).

  • Active member of Texas Probation Association and Texas Corrections Association.

  • Recipient of TPA Administrator of the Year Award (1994).

  • Implemented and administers many innovative community corrections programs in the El Paso community, including the Adult Probation Learning Center, Graffiti Wipeout, Victim Services, Gang Intervention, Treatment Alternatives to Incarceration Program, Project Spotlight, Pre-Trial Diversion (first offender) program, personal bonding program, three community corrections residential facilities, and a community-based multi-service outreach center.

  • The West Texas Community Supervision and Corrections Department has been recognized statewide for its progressive and innovative programming and for its involvement in the community, and has received the following awards and recognition: Role Modeling Awards - Partners in Education, El Paso Independent School District (1993-1995); Community Pride Awards - Keep El Paso Beautiful (1992, 1996, 1997); March of Dimes Recognition Awards (1996-2001); Project BRAVO (1991 & 1999); Texas Parks and Wildlife (1991 & 1995); Colonias Program (1999); and the first ever Special Recognition Award from the Community Justice Assistance Division (1997).
