West Texas Community Supervision and Corrections Department

  • Court Services Section
  •
  • The Court Services Section functions primarily as a liaison to the thirteen district courts, seven county courts and three magistrate courts in El Paso. It provides pre-plea reports and pre-sentence investigation reports on cases going before the various courts. These reports include a thorough search of the defendant's criminal background history and a summary of the instant offense. The section participates in the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) which is connected to the Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation to obtain current criminal histories. The section is comprised of seventeen officers and six support staff. Each officer is assigned at least one district court to facilitate each court's operation and insuring the presence of an officer at all court hearings pertaining to probation. Six of the officers perform dual tasks with additional assignments to the county courts and the magistrate courts. Also, an officer is assigned the interstate caseload and monitors felons placed on probation throughout the United States.
