  • Crime Records, Evidence and Forensics Section
  • The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Crime Records Evidence and Forensics Section is divided into three major sections. It is lead by a Sergeant assigned as the Custodian of Records for the Sheriff's Office.
  • The Crime Records Section

  • Handles all storing and processing of criminal complaint reports, criminal background checks and the Uniform Crime Report.
  • The Forensics Section

  • Handles all calls for crime scene processing, photography and fingerprinting the public.
  • The Evidence Section

  • Responsible for the storage and accountability of all recovered property and evidence.

  • - Background Record Checks

  • Copies of Background Checks can be obtained at El Paso County Sheriff�s Office Headquarters, 3850 Justice Drive, El Paso, Texas 79938 (915) 538-2292
  •     - Conducted everyday of the week ($6.00 fee)
  •     - Only the person being checked can authorize a background check.
  •     - If another person is requesting the check as a second party, they must have a notarized authorization to obtain the background check
  • Note: The El Paso County Sheriff's Office only check for criminal backgrounds for our agency arrests only. If you need a complete background check through NCIC/TCIC it should be done with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

  • SUSPENDED: Process/Issuance of SOB Licenses NO LONGER AVAILABLE – Stay at Home or Place of Residence Order

  • To ensure the health and safety of the public, the Sheriff’s Office is taking additional efforts to reduce the possibility of exposure to and control the risk of COVID-19.

  • Effective Immediately, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office new hours for Fingerprinting are as follows:
  •  
  • ‐Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon).
  • ‐Location: 3850 Justice Dr., El Paso, TX 79938
  •  
  • Members of the public who require fingerprints are asked to adhere to these hours and plan accordingly.
  •  
  • Walk-ins for this purpose are no longer permitted.
  •  
  •  -Cost for fingerprinting is $10.00, credit and debit cards accepted. Additional card cost is $5.00.
  •  
  • Note: The Sheriff's Office does not fingerprint for Naturalization and US Citizenship purposes.

  • -Evidence and Property Section

  • Open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, excluding holidays.
  • -Appointment necessary prior to picking up property.
  • -Detectives approval necessary prior to release of any property/evidence
  • -For further information contact property room at 915-538-2283
  • -Current photo identification is required for release of property
  • -Property left at court house security area and not claimed within a week will be turned over to the property room.

  • On December 10, 2012, El Paso County Commissioners Court enacted an order relating to the licensing requirements and regulations for Sexually Oriented Businesses within El Paso County.

  • Sexually Orientated License Fees:

    Business License (annual renewal)........................$350
    Employee License...................................................$50
    Employee License (annual renewal).......................$25

    Penalties for violation of this ordinance:
    Penalties for violating this order range from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class C misdemeanor.

  • -Alarm Systems

  • On January 1, 2012, El Paso County Commissioners Court enacted an order regulating alarm systems within the unincorporated areas of El Paso County.
  •  
  • Alarm Permit Fees:
  • Residential Permit (valid for three years)....................$30.00
  • Commercial Permit (valid for three years)...................$60.00
  •  
  • Penalties for Alarm Permit Violations:
  • Penalties for Alarm Permit Violations range from a $75.00 fine to a Class C Misdemeanor per violation, and/or revocation of the permit.
  •  
  • Applicants can be processed the El Paso County Sheriff�s Monday through Friday between the hours of: 8:30 a.m. � 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Applications may also be mailed in with the exact payment in the form of a check, cashier�s check, or money order payable to the El Paso County Sheriff�s Office.
