CAPTURED SEX OFFENDER – RAMON ORTIZ

El Paso, Texas – On February 1st, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies assigned to the Sex Offender Registration & Tracking portion of the SCaB Unit recently completed an investigation where a registered sex offender moved from the County of El Paso to Hereford, Texas, which lies in Deaf Smith County. The investigation revealed that 61-year-old Ramon Ortiz departed El Paso in December and relocated to Hereford, Texas. Deputies conducted a follow-up with authorities in Deaf Smith County to ensure that Ortiz did, in fact, report as required and learned that he had not reported to Hereford Police Department. As a result, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies secured a criminal warrant for Ramon Ortiz for Absconding / Duty to Register, and they collaborated with Hereford Police Department to have him arrested. Deputies assigned to the Sheriff's Office SCaB Unit continuously monitor Registered Sex Offenders who are moving in and out of the County of El Paso, ensuring compliance with the law.
