Burglary of Business Arrest-Giovanni Moreno

EL PASO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE -NEWS RELEASE

EL PASO, TX - On March 8, 2024, Peter J. Herrera Units responded to the 1500 San Elizario Rd, in reference to multiple crimes committed during the same criminal episode. The Unknown Offender broke into a vehicle and tried to ignite the gas tank on fire, broke into and stole from a section of the San Elizario Church, attempted to break into a Museum next to the Plaza, and successfully broke into an Art Gallery/Museum and destroyed multiple displays. Detectives from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station responded to the scene and, with the assistance of the TRU team, positively identified the Offender, recognizing him from previous interactions as a 23-year-old Moreno, Geovanni. On March 11, 2024, Detectives obtained two warrants for Burglary of Business against the Offender with a $5000.00 bond each. On March 12, 2024, Patrol Deputies located the Offender walking in the 500 block of Borrego in El Paso County, Texas. The subject was taken into custody without incident and booked into El Paso County Jail under a $10000.00 bond pending additional charges.

Our Sincere Condolences to the Friends and Family of Retired Officer Robert Rodriguez

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Roberto Rodriguez, aged 73, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Mr. Rodriguez was a longtime resident of El Paso, a devout member of the Catholic Church, and a distinguished graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School and Bel Air High School, Class of 1969. Known affectionately as "Rod," he dedicated 34 years to serving as a respected Detention Officer and Deputy with the El Paso Sheriff's Department. He is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Teresa and Pedro Rodriguez. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nelia Rodriguez, and his two doting children, Roberto Rodriguez, Jr. (Rosie) and Irene Sotelo (David). Roberto also leaves four grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Iliana Sotelo, Robbie Rodriguez, Sophie Rodriguez, and Evan Sotelo. Bobby is also survived by his brothers, Luis Rodriguez, Fernando Rodriguez, and Ruben Rodriguez, as well as his sister, Alicia Gallegos. Dad, Grandpa, Husband, Brother, and Friend, even though you leave behind an immeasurable hole in our hearts, our time with you brought us joy. Seven decades does not seem like enough time with you, but we will carry your sense of humor and stories in our hearts for the rest of our lifetimes. May you serve as our Guardian Angel, guiding and protecting us, until we are reunited in God's kingdom

UDATE::: MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT I-10 W MILE MARKER 48

UPDATE::: On March 9, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office dispatched Patrol Deputies to Interstate 10 West at mile marker 48 in response to a motor vehicle collision between two tractor trucks. Regrettably, the driver of the red tractor truck, identified as 56-year-old William Diaz, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The appropriate next of kin has been informed of the incident. Currently, this case remains under investigation. The road has since been reopened.

El Paso, TX - At approximately 10:30 PM on March 9, 2024, deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two semi tractors. Special traffic investigators were dispatched to the location. Information on injuries sustained is currently unavailable. The closure of I-10 westbound at exit 49 has been implemented, with traffic being redirected to Alameda Avenue. The road is expected to remain closed until further notice.

EL PASO, TEXAS - On February 20th, 2024, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Special Victim’s Unit (SVU), received information of an injury to a child (6-month-old victim) at the 13000 block of Guerrero Dr., El Paso County Texas. Through the course of the investigation, SVU Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the victim’s father, 34-year-old Jesse Hernandez, and the victim’s mother, 29-year-old Jennifer Hernandez.

EL PASO, TEXAS - On March 7th, 2024, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, along with the assistance of the Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU), located both Jesse and Jennifer Hernandez at the 13000 block of Guerrero Dr., El Paso County, Texas. Jesse Hernandez and Jennifer Hernandez were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Injury to a Child with Intent Serious Bodily Injury with a total bond of $200,000 each.
