EL PASO, TEXAS – From May 5 to May 11, 2024, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office honors and celebrates correctional officers' hard work and dedication nationwide. As essential members of the criminal justice system, correctional officers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the community at large. Their day-to-day tasks include maintaining order, supervising inmate activities, and facilitating rehabilitation programs within correctional facilities, all of which contribute directly to the safety of our communities.
The recognition from the El Paso County Commissioners further emphasized the importance of National Correctional Officers Week in highlighting the accomplishments and sacrifices of correctional officers. The resolution signed by the commissioners serves as a formal acknowledgment of the invaluable service provided by these dedicated individuals, who often work in challenging and high-stress environments.

Crisis intervention team attends 2nd Annual Health & Career Fair at ESC Head Start

EL PASO, TEXAS – May 4, 2024 - The El Paso County Sheriff's Office attends the 2nd Annual Health & Career Fair hosted by ESC 19 Head Start. During the event, the Crisis Intervention Team shared information about their role in the community and the resources available to support individuals and families facing mental health crises. The team also met with various public members, established rapport, and gave out "goodies." The event provided a platform for other organizations that deal with healthcare and fitness to reach out to the public and showcase the resources available to them. The Crisis Intervention Team's participation in the event further highlights their commitment to providing compassionate and practical support to those in need.

El Paso County Deputies attend Tornillo Elementary and Middle School Career Day.

EL PASO, TEXAS – On May 3rd, 2024, Tornillo ISD extended their invitation to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as they hosted their annual career day. Deputies who are members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) had the opportunity to interact with the young students and gave them a glimpse of what a career in law enforcement looks like. Deputies informed the students of the requirements for becoming a Deputy as well as a showcase of the different tools used to fulfill their everyday duties. Among those in attendance was CNT member Deputy E. Valenzuela, a former Tornillo ISD graduate who proudly said, “I am very grateful for the opportunity to be here and share my experiences with the next generation. I grew up in the same classrooms and seats the students were in, and now I get to give back and hopefully make a positive impact in their lives.”
