RED SANDS ELEMENTARY FITNESS DAY

El Paso, Texas – On Friday, February 24th, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies assigned at the East Montana Patrol Station participated in the Fitness Friday event held at Red Sands Elementary School. Deputies joined students and parents during their physical education class and conducted different activities to progress students' fitness. Deputies received positive feedback from parents and the school's administration.

CAREER DAY AT NOLAN RICHARDSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

El Paso, Texas – On Tuesday, February 28th, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service Section Deputies attended career day at Nolan Richardson Middle School at 11350 Loma Franklin Dr., El Paso County, Texas. The presentation was for students in 6th to 8th grades and consisted of career information and the use of officer equipment. Sheriff Deputies talked about what it takes to be a Sheriff Deputy and discussed various laws pertaining to their age groups. Additionally, the students learned about the daily responsibilities of a Sheriff Deputy and what it takes to be successful.

ATTEMPTED THEFT OF VEHICLE AT THE 8000 BLOCK OF DONIPHAN DR.

EL PASO, TEXAS - On February 25th, 2023, at approximately 4:21 p.m., El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Northwest Patrol Station were dispatched to the 8000 block of Doniphan Dr., El Paso County, TX. in reference to a burglary of a vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject who was identified as the offender, 41-year-old Antonio Estupinan. Further investigation at the scene revealed that the offender had been attempting to steal rims from a nearby vehicle, and in doing so, the offender damaged private property, including nearby fencing. The offender was additionally found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The offender was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Jail for Possession of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1), Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Trespass with a total bond of $7,500.00.

Upper Valley Cowboy Boot Giveaway

El Paso, Texas – As you know, The Calcaterra Family of Cowtown Boots donated cowboy boots to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Foundation through our El Paso County Sheriff's Office Foundation. On Friday, February 24th, 2023, Deputies with The Upper Valley Patrol Station passed out over 100 pairs of those boots at Dr. Howard Applegate Park during the Village of Vinton's food pantry giveaway. With the assistance of patrol deputies and detectives, these boots were given to residents of Westway, Vinton, and Canutillo. Community members were very grateful for our agency and Cowtown boots.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY ON SOUTH DARRINGTON RD.

El Paso, Texas – On February 24th, 2023, at approximately 6:30 pm., El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies assigned to the Deputy Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the 2000 block of S. Darrington Road regarding an assault in progress. Deputies arrived and met with Victim, who stated Offender, 34-year-old Adriana Nava, assaulted her with a bat and stole her vehicle. The Horizon Police Department located Offender inside the vehicle at the 1000 block of Villa Seca Dr. Vehicle was released back to Victim. The Offender was subsequently taken into custody and booked into El Paso County Jail for Aggravated Robbery with a $30,000.00 bond.

Most Wanted Fugitives Week of February 24, 2023
EL PASO, TEXAS – Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature. The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

El Paso, Texas – On Monday, February 20, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the 1200 block of Iguana, El Paso County, Texas, in reference to a subject with a gun. Deputies met with the Victim, who stated that 19-year-old Giovanni Ruiz pointed a handgun at him and threatened his life. Sheriff’s Deputies located Ruiz on the 12700 block of Mark Twain and placed him under arrest. Ruiz was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon with a $50,000 bond.

BURGLARY OF HABITAION – NATHANIEL ARCHULETA

El Paso, Texas – On Monday, February 20, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies assigned to the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the 100 block of NE J Ave, El Paso County, Texas, in reference to a Burglary of Habitation. Deputies met with the Victim, who stated that 25-year-old Nathaniel Archuleta made entry into his residence and stabbed him multiple times on his back and face. During the investigation, Deputies learned that Archuleta had assaulted another person at the residence earlier that morning. Archuleta was re-booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Burglary of Habitation with a $50,000.00 bond.

COFFEE WITH A DEPUTY – FEBRUARY 17, 2023

El Paso, Texas –– On February 17, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies celebrated Coffee with a Deputy Day at five locations throughout El Paso County. The Deputies' mission during this event is to break down the barriers between law enforcement officers and the citizens they serve. The event allows citizens to discuss issues and learn more about each other. It is a casual atmosphere and the Sheriff’s Office will be having this event throughout the year on a quarterly basis. The goal is to build trust in person, having real conversations about issues that really matter to El Paso County citizens. Deputies from Northwest Patrol Station met at Barriles Mexican Restaurant in Canutillo. Community Service Deputies met at Cotton Eye Joe’s Restaurant located at 1591 N FM RD. Clint, TX 79936, Ensenada Restaurant located at 14281 Montana Ave Ste., 8, El Paso, TX 79938 and Starbucks Coffee located at 1881 Joe Battle Blvd., El Paso, TX 79936. Deputies met with citizens, answered some of their concerns, and we provided “Lock it or Lose it” and “Illegal Dumping” flyers, which give tips to citizens on how to prevent being the victims of a burglary of vehicle, and how to report illegal dumping in their area. The citizens were happy to meet with the deputies.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON ARREST

El Paso, Texas – On February 13th, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Warrants Fugitive & Apprehension Unit arrested Samuel Rodriguez, who is identified as a "Chuco Tango" gang, member. Information obtained through investigation indicated he lived at the 300 block of Borrego Rd., San Elizario, Texas. Rodriguez was wanted for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with a $50.000.00 bond for each charge. The subject was taken into custody and booked into El Paso County Jail without any incidents.

PREP CAMP RECAP

El Paso, Texas – On Saturday, February 11th, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Women Behind the Badge held their first-ever Prep Camp. They met with 45 attendees interested in joining the Sheriff’s Office. The Women Behind the Badge shared their job experiences and explained the hiring process for the department. Most attendees participated in the physical fitness readiness portion, with several passing the physical assessment on this same day. The Women Behind the Badge set an example that inspired those who attended. These women exemplify the Sheriff’s Office motto, “We Serve with Pride.” Future Prep Camps will be announced at a later date.
