Most Wanted Fugitives Week of November 11, 2022 (Early Submission)

EL PASO, TEXAS – Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature. The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful. The agencies submit these fugitives to Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., which distributes them to the news media and offers the use of the Crime Stoppers hotline for information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives. Anyone with information on the location of any of these fugitives should call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at (915) 566-8477 (TIPS), or submit the information on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org. You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward. 2022 USPSA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

El Paso, Texas – On October 21, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Range Master Justin Martinez attended the 2022 USPSA National Championship in Talladega, Alabama. The National Championship consisted of 20 courses of fire that presented multiple challenges to its competitors. After firing more than 500 rounds over three days, Justin secured a 1st place victory in the Master division making him a National Champion. This victory will help Justin facilitate his ultimate goal of representing the United States of America during the next IPSC World Shoot.

YOUNG WOMEN’S ACADEMY CAREER EVENT

El Paso, Texas – On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies participated in the Young Women’s Academy career event held at 2231 Arizona Dr. El Paso, TX. Although the academy’s focus for students is Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS & Mathematics (STEAM), students also learned about other career opportunities to include law enforcement. Deputies answered questions from students who were enthusiastic to hear about the Sheriff’s Office.

EL PASO, TEXAS – Luis Jorge Vacio, who was initially featured on the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted for the week of November 4, 2022, has been apprehended. Vacio was wanted for AGG SEXUAL ASSLT CHILD.

Incident at Polling Place

NEWS RELEASE – El Paso, Texas. On Friday, November 4th, 2022 at 3:50 pm an employee of the El Paso County Elections Department notified the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office of an incident at a polling place, Marty Robbins Recreation Center, 11620 Vista Del Sol Dr. Upon arrival it was determined that an altercation occurred between a campaign worker and a citizen. The citizen was accused of knocking a cell phone from the campaign worker’s hand, causing minor damage to the phone. A report was generated and an investigation will be conducted to determine what charges, if any, are appropriate. The parties involved were sent on their way.

OPERATION UNMASKED

November 4, 2022
El Paso, Texas – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Unit collaborated with the Police Departments of Anthony, Horizon City, and Socorro during the days leading up to Halloween, including the day of, for Operation Unmasked. Operation Unmasked was designed to ensure that certain convicted sex offenders were complying with the conditions of their parole or probation. Certain offenders have parole and probation conditions that forbid them from decorating for Halloween. The operation also included the home verifications of the registered addresses on file with the Sheriff’s Office. During the operation, 72 offenders, on parole and probation, were checked. The multi-agency operation resulted in 100% compliance with no violations and no incidents to report. The Sheriff’s Office is proud of the collaboration between the participating agencies, ensuring the safety of our children and our community.

2022 RED RIBBON WEEK

El Paso, Texas – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the Northwest Patrol station along with Narcotics Section, celebrated Red Ribbon week. They did presentations at the following schools, Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia Elementary, Bill Childress Elementary, Desertaire Elementary, Anthony Elementary, Park Elementary, Davenport Elementary, Moreno Elementary, and Rivera Elementary Schools. The presentations raise awareness of drug use and the problems facing our community. Red Ribbon Week encourages our entire community to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Students and staff from all the schools were very appreciative of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for going to their school and educating them about the dangers and consequences of using drugs.

Trunk-o-Treat Event

El Paso, Texas – On Thursday, October 27,2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies participated in the trunk-o-treat event held at Red Sands Elementary. The event held by the school administration consisted of Deputies and other school staff members giving away candy to the children from the community while wishing them a safe and happy Halloween. The event also featured a haunted house for the younger children, games, face painting, and food trucks. This traditional school event is held every year to bring a fun and safe Halloween experience to families.

2022 Viejitos Car Club TOY DRIVE

December 2022 will be 10 years since Viejitos Car Club has been collecting toys for the children in the county.

Motor Vehicle Accident on LOOP 375 Transmountain Mile Marker 19

UPDATE: El Paso, Texas – On October 29, 2022, at 9:20 am El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies with the Northwest Patrol Station were dispatched to Loop 375 east at mile marker 19 in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover. Upon their arrival, deputies located a vehicle off the side of the mountain. Special Traffic Investigators were dispatched, the driver who was later identified as Michael Arden Smith died on the scene as a result of the crash. CREFS and the medical examiner’s office were requested to the scene along with El Paso Fire Department Special Rescue in the recovery of the deceased.
El Paso, Texas – On Saturday morning, October 29, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident with serious injuries. Eastbound traffic is closed until further notice. Will send an update as soon as the information becomes available.

UPDATE ON RECENT HOMICIDE – MISSION RIDGE AND BOB HOPE

El Paso, Texas UPDATE - The female found near the intersection of Mission Ridge Blvd. and Bob Hope Dr. has been identified as 42-year-old Guatemalan National Delmy Odilia Timal Urtado. Identification and next of kin notifications were made possible by collaborative efforts between the El Paso County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Consulate of Guatemala in Del Rio Texas, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing and no other information is available for release.
El Paso, Texas - On October 19, 2022, at 09:21 am., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating there was a body in the desert area near Bob Hope Dr. and Mission Ridge Blvd. Deputies were dispatched to the 12900 block of Bob Hope Dr in reference to a Welfare Check. Deputies arrived at 09:26 am. and were directed approximately 100 yards into the desert area, where they located the body of a female. Details are limited as the female has not been identified and the next of kin has not been located. The circumstances surrounding the incident are suspicious and the incident is being handled as a homicide by the Sheriff’s Office

Horizon High School Homecoming Parade

El Paso, Texas – On October 26, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the community Service section along with Commissioner Iliana Holguin attended the Horizon High School Homecoming Parade. The parade started at the Frank Macias Elementary School and ended at the Horizon High School located at 14651 Horizon Blvd.
