The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office continues to receive calls from El Paso citizens harassed by scammers impersonating Sheriff’s Office employees attempting to monetarily defraud victims. The scammer/offender identifies themselves as a representative from the Sheriff’s Office claiming that the individual/victim has ignored their jury duty summons, unpaid tickets, warrants, or court summons. The individual/victim is then advised to make a payment to resolve the matter. The Sheriff’s office would also like to remind citizens that they will never be contacted by phone requesting payment for missed jury duty summons, unpaid tickets, or outstanding criminal warrants. Additionally, citizens are encouraged NOT to exchange any personal or financial information over the phone. The public can call the Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit to confirm if there is an outstanding warrant in their name by calling 915-546- 2214. For any matters relating to jury duty please contact 915-546-8102.

HARASSMENT OF PUBLIC SERVANT – LORENZA GUADIAN

July 25, 2022
El Paso, Texas - On Monday, July 25, 2022, at about 3:54 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the 300 block of NW I Ave., in Fabens, TX. Deputies were dispatched in reference to a domestic verbal. As Deputies attempted to place 41-year-old Lorenza Guadian into custody for an Emergency Detention Order, she began to resist, and spit into the eye of the arresting deputy. Guadian was subsequently placed under arrest for Harassment of Public Servant. Guadian was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond.

El Paso, Texas – On Monday, July 25th, 2022, The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has worked in partnership with Clint ISD for eight years to provide School Resource Officers on every Clint ISD campus. The Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers and students at Clint Independent School District were excited to greet each other back on campus. The program serves as a security measure for the campuses, mentorship of students, education on social media postings, drug education awareness, and other issues that impact our students and community. Welcome back students and teachers. We hope you have a great school year!

THEFT ARREST – RICHARD STEVENS

July 16, 2022
El Paso, Texas –On Friday, July 15th, 2022, at about 4 pm, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detectives from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were investigating several stolen vehicles in the 13000 block of North Loop Dr.
During the investigation, the detectives located two stolen vehicles and an enclosed trailer on the 800 block of Range War Ct. in Socorro, Texas. 30-year-old Richard Stevens was placed under arrest by the detectives without incident. Stevens was booked into the El Paso County Jail for two separate theft charges, Theft of Property >$30K<$150K and Theft Property>$2500<$30K. Stevens remains in jail under a total $10,000 bond.

Presentation of the Deputy Peter John Herrera Scholarship

El Paso, Texas - On July 7th, 2022, at 1:30 pm., The El Paso County Sheriff’s Foundation with the assistance of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service had the first Deputy Peter John Herrera Scholarship presentations. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Commander Robert Rojas and President of the Foundation Mr.Robert Fraga presented the 1st scholarship check to a young man very deserving of it.
The Deputy Peter John Herrera Scholarship Fund program was developed out of a strong desire to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Deputy Peter John Herrera. The scholarship program was instituted to fund higher education for students enrolled in schools within the limits of El Paso County. The Sheriff's Office received a few applications, and we are honored to present $1,000 to awardee Isaiah Edgerton.
Mr. Edgerton is a senior early college student at Socorro High School. He plans to attend Wayland Baptist University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in special victims and investigation. He hopes to one day be a Crime Scene Investigator or Criminal Investigator.

FORT DEFIANCE DR. AND SANTA FE TRAIL ARREST

El Paso, Texas - On Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Montana Patrol Station, conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Fort Defiance Dr. and Santa Fe Trail. Through the course of the investigation, Deputies located a jar of marijuana and a black 9 mm pistol by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Verdi Vladimir Miranda. Miranda was charged and booked with Unlawful Carrying Weapons and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces, with a bond of $1000.
