VEHICLE THEFT AT GILLET STREET and ELK WAY

El Paso, Texas - On March 16th, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to Gillet Street and Elk Way, Canutillo, El Paso County, Texas, in reference to a vehicle theft in progress. When deputies arrived on the scene and met with the victim, she stated she observed her motor vehicle driving out of her residence driveway away from the property. The Victim said that several family members located her vehicle several blocks away from the residence and detained the Offender until Sheriff’s Deputies arrived. After further investigation, it was determined that the Offender entered the Victim’s residence, appropriated the keys to the vehicle, and took the vehicle without the Victim’s permission. The Offender was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail for Burglary of Habitation and Theft of Property

NARCAN ADMINISTERED ON TWO SUBJECTS

March 21, 2022 El Paso, Texas - On March 19, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in El Paso County, Texas, to assist Life-Ambulance. Upon arrival, the responding deputies observed one male and one female unconscious on the floor inside of the residence. Deputies conducted sternum rubs and CPR with no response. Through their training and experience, the deputies recognized that both parties were suffering from a possible drug overdose. Deputies administered one dose of NARCAN to each subject. LIFE ambulance personnel subsequently arrived, conducted CPR, and assessed the subjects. Both subjects became conscious and alert and were transported to a local area hospital for further medical evaluation.

ARREST ON THE 12000 BLOCK OF BENEDICTA St.

March 14, 2022
El Paso, Texas - On March 13th, 2022, at approximately 08:50 am. El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies assigned to the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to the block of 12000 Benedicta St. in reference to domestic criminal mischief in progress. When deputies made contact with Bryan Edmundo Jimenez, who was aggressive and resisted arrest, they placed him under arrest. Jimenez was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail for criminal mischief >=$2,500<$30k and resisting arrest search or transport with an $11,500.00 bond.

MOST WANTED FUGITIVE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY – JUAN MEZA JR.

March 10, 2022 El Paso, Texas- On March 8th, 2022, at approximately 11:30 am., El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies with the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station conducted a traffic stop at the 15800 block of North Loop Dr, Fabens, Texas. During the traffic stop, deputies identified the passenger as Juan Meza, who was featured on the Most Wanted Fugitives on March 4, 2022, for Sex Abuse of Child Continuous-Victim under 14 and Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child. With the assistance of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Section, Meza was booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $120,000.00 bond.

PAWS IN DETENTION ATTEND ESCONTRIAS ELEMENTARY CAREER DAY

March 9, 2022 El Paso, Texas- On March 03, 2022, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office PAWS (Pets Advancing Wellness and Success) in Detention section attended Escontrias Elementary for a Career Day. Students and staff learned about the P.A.W.S. program and how to become a Detention Officer or a Deputy. Officer Fernandez and Ortega along with P.A.W.S. Canine Cadet Addie attended the event and conducted demonstrations on basic commands. Canine Cadets from the P.A.W.S. program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso by calling (915) 877-5002.

APPROVED SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM IN FABENS SCHOOLS

March 8, 2022 El Paso, Texas- On March 7, 2022, during the El Paso County Commissioners Court Meeting, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office presented to approve and authorize the interlocal agreement between El Paso County and Fabens Independent School District to have School Resource Officers at their district beginning March 1, 2022, through September 30, 2025. This agreement was approved and will add three deputy positions. Fabens ISD joins Clint ISD, San Elizario ISD, and Socorro ISD in partnering with the Sheriff’s Office to create a safer environment for their schools.

WANTED OFFENDER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY - MARCOS CHAVEZ

March 3, 2022 El Paso, Texas- On March 3, 2022, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrants & Fugitive Apprehension Unit was conducting an investigation in reference to a wanted subject at the 11700 block of Pebble Hills in El Paso County, TX. Marcos Chavez, a 34-year-old, was wanted in El Paso County on two counts of Indecency with a Child. During the investigation, deputies made contact with a male subject resembling Chavez exiting a vehicle. The male subject was positively identified as Chavez, and he was taken into custody without incident. Chavez was booked into the El Paso County Jail with a bond of $30,000. Chavez is an employee with the Socorro Independent School District.

4TH ANNUAL CARRERA POR UN CORAZON DE NINO 5K & 1 MILE FUN RUN / WALK

El Paso, Texas – On February 27, 2022, at 8:30 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Region VIII Training Academy Staff and Cadets participated in the 4th Annual Corazon De Nino Run at Union Plaza Park. The group consisted of 19 Detention Officer Cadets, (14 males and 5 females) and one Training Instructor. Their class name is Spartans and as part of their academy, every cadet class gives back to the community around the county. In this case, they wanted to help bring awareness to cardiovascular disease in children. The event organizers thanked the Sheriff’s Office for their participation. Cadets proudly waived their class flag and a Texas flag, which had been flown over the State capitol that week. This race is to benefit the Cardiovascular operations and procedures for pediatric congenital heart disorders for children in the international border region of Juarez Mexico.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-10 MILE MARKER 53

El Paso, Texas – On February 27, 2022, at approximately 1:30 pm, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a single motor vehicle accident on i-10 eastbound at mile Marker 53. The vehicle failed to control speed, collided with the median, speed was a factor. Two passengers were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Please try to avoid this area.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON MILE MARKER 48

El Paso, Texas – On February 27, 2022, at approximately 10:45 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident on i-10 westbound at mile Marker 48. A car rear-ended a Tractor Trailer (semi). The female car driver was pronounced dead on the scene. 1-10 Westbound closed at Exit mile marker 49. Traffic to detour off the exit to Fabens Rd. To FM1110 then back to I-10. The investigation is still in progress, no further information at this time. I-10 westbound in this area will be closed for the next 4 hours.
