COFFEE WITH A DEPUTY – SEPTEMBER 27, 2023 pictures and video
-
October 3, 2023
El Paso, Texas – On September 27, 2023, members of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, including Deputies from the Montana Patrol Station, Detectives from the Montana Patrol Station, a COP representative, the Community Service Section, the Crisis Intervention Team, and the Traffic Division, held a meeting at Starbucks located at 12980 Eastlake Blvd, El Paso, TX.
We are grateful to Starbucks for allowing us to use their establishment. During this meeting, we discussed our critical initiative, Coffee with a Deputy. This event, which used to happen annually, is now held quarterly with a renewed focus on a single location for each session. This strategic shift allows us to address the specific needs of our community better. We can effectively address community concerns by focusing on one location per event. As we enjoy a warm cup of coffee, we create an environment where citizens feel comfortable sharing their concerns. Our main goal is to promote friendship and challenge the belief that police officers are only there to give out traffic tickets. Community policing has always been a fundamental aspect of our efforts, and we understand that building trust takes time. Therefore, we organize these events four times yearly to ensure sustained engagement with our citizens.
During these gatherings, our Deputies provide valuable information on crime prevention and guide attendees on how to stay safe in El Paso County. This exchange of knowledge benefits not only the residents but also enables our deputies to understand better the needs of the community they serve. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is committed to strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community. We strive to create an atmosphere of trust, understanding, and collaboration through our quarterly events. Together, we can build a safer and more harmonious El Paso County. We welcome you warmly and look forward to attending our coffee session with the Deputy. Additionally, a significant acknowledgment to Deputy Earl Woods for organizing this event with Starbucks! Thank you all for your contributions.
