NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A DEPUTY DAY – OCTOBER 4, 2023

October 4, 2023

El Paso, Texas A meeting was held on October 4, 2023, by El Paso County Sheriff's Office members, including Deputies from the Community Service Section, the Montana Patrol Station, the Peter J. Hererra Patrol Station, Detectives from the Montana Patrol Station, and the COP representative. The meeting occurred at the Starbucks on 12161 Eastlake Blvd in El Paso, TX. We appreciate Starbucks' hospitality.

The main topic discussed during the meeting was our critical initiative, Coffee with a Deputy. This event used to happen annually, but we have now shifted to holding it quarterly, with a renewed focus on a single location for each session. This strategic shift allows us to address the specific needs of our community better. We can effectively address community concerns by focusing on one location per event. During these sessions, we create an environment where citizens feel comfortable sharing their concerns, and our main goal is to promote friendship and challenge the belief that police officers are only there to give out traffic tickets.

Community policing has always been a fundamental aspect of our efforts, and we understand that building trust takes time. Therefore, we organize these events four times yearly to ensure sustained engagement with our citizens. During these gatherings, our deputies provide valuable information on crime prevention and guide attendees on how to stay safe in El Paso County. This exchange of knowledge benefits not only the residents but also enables our deputies to understand better the needs of the community they serve.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is committed to strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community. We strive to create an atmosphere of trust, understanding, and collaboration through our quarterly events. Together, we can build a safer and more harmonious El Paso County. We welcome you warmly and look forward to attending our coffee session with the Deputy. Thank you all for your contributions.
