Seeking Volunteers for Haunted Event!

VOLUNTEERS WANTED

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 2005, is pleased to announce the commencement of yet another Haunted House Season.

Individuals of all ages, including adults, teenagers, and students, are invited to participate in this volunteer opportunity. Those who choose to volunteer will be eligible to earn community service hours that can be applied towards their graduation requirements.

The proceeds from this event will be directed towards supporting the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 2005, a registered non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon -1100 Block of Yann ST

September 20, 2023

El Paso, Texas – On September 19, 2023, at approximately 12:53 AM, El Paso Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Yann, El Paso County, TX, in reference to an Aggravated Assault.

Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive male on the ground who had been stabbed in the abdomen and chest area. The male was transported to a local hospital for injuries. The Major Crimes Unit was requested to investigate the stabbing. During the investigation, detectives positively identified a juvenile male responsible for the stabbing. At approximately 6:30 PM, deputies assigned to the Peter J. Herrera Station located the juvenile male and took him into custody.

The juvenile male was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The juvenile male was processed and referred to the custody of the Juvenile Probation Department. The male victim is still in the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

BURGLARY OF HABITATION ARREST – HERNANDEZ & VILLALOBOS

September 19, 2023

El Paso, Texas – On September 18, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies assigned to the Montana Patrol Station were dispatched to the 300 block of Gold Valley Drive in reference to a Burglary of Habitation in progress. Upon arrival, deputies met with Pointe Homes employees, who advised that two individuals were inside the residence.

Deputies thoroughly searched the residence, leading to the discovery of a male and female individual within the premises. The individuals in question are 39-year-old Jennifer Yvette Hernandez and 38-year-old Josue Villalobos. It was determined that they were unlawfully occupying the residence and had caused significant damage amounting to $10,000. Additionally, deputies have uncovered fentanyl pills and a rifle within the confines of the residence. Hernandez and Villalobos have been apprehended and charged with the offense of Burglary of Habitation. Subsequently, they were processed and confined in the El Paso County Jail. Hernandez's bail has been set at $5,000, while Villalobos's bail has been set at $10,000.

On Thursday, September 14th, 2023, Toya Esquivel, Assistant Manager for Whataburger, visited our Headquarters to kindly deliver a selection of coupons and chocolate chip cookies for the office. Ms. Esquivel expressed her thoughtfulness, acknowledging the dedication of our office to serving El Paso County. A Resolution, which was approved and adopted by the El Paso County Commissioners Court on September 18, 2023, designates the period from September 17, 2023, to September 24, 2023, as forensic science week in El Paso County, Texas.

We would like to extend our recognition to the Crime Scene Unit and Property and Evidence section on behalf of Sheriff Richard D. Wiles and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

National Forensic Science Week aims to raise awareness and acknowledge the crucial role that accurate forensic science plays in the investigation of criminal activities across the nation, encompassing the exoneration of the innocent and the identification of the guilty.

CLINT HIGH SCHOOL 2023 HOMECOMING PARADE

September 15, 2023

EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso Sheriff’s Office Community Services and Commissioner Iliana Holguin participated in the 2023 Clint High School Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. This year’s parade theme was “Through the Decades”. The procession commenced at Clint Jr High School and concluded at Clint High School.

The educational institution organized a pep rally at the main gym, observing various customary school practices, including paying tribute to the distinguished “honored ex”, performances by the cheer and dance teams, and culminating in the ceremonial burning of the letter “C”. It was a privilege to partake in the event alongside the esteemed presence of the Sheriff’s Office 2005 GMC Hummer 2. Ms. Anissa Bravo, the English Teacher and Cheerleading Coach at Clint High School, oversaw the well-coordinated event. Additionally, we would like to extend special recognition to the entire Clint High School staff, the student body, and the community of Clint, TX for ensuring the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s participation in this significant community event. The school holds to its motto, “Win the Day.” Thank you, Lions, for your efforts.

YSLETA HIGH SCHOOL 2023 HOMECOMING PARADE

EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso Sheriff’s Office Community Services, Traffic Division and Commissioner Iliana Holguin participated in the 2023 Ysleta High School Homecoming Parade on Thursday, September 14, 2023. This year’s parade theme was “Mario Brothers Ysleta Party.” The procession commenced at Capistrano Elementary School and concluded at Ysleta High School.

The educational institution organized a pep rally at the legendary Hutchins Stadium, observing various customary school practices, including paying tribute to the distinguished “honored ex” and performances by the cheer and dance teams. It was a privilege to partake in the event alongside the esteemed presence of the Sheriff’s Office vintage 1953 Chevy pickup truck, the 2005 GMC Hummer 2, and our 2018 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Motorcycles from the Traffic Division. Ms. Ibeth Perez, Student Activity Director at Ysleta High School, oversaw the well-coordinated event. Additionally, we would like to extend special recognition to the entire Ysleta High School staff, the student body, and the community of Ysleta for ensuring the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s participation in this significant community event. The school upholds its LEGENDARY motto, “Once an Indian, Always an Indian.” Thank you, Indians, for your efforts.

MOUNTAIN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL 2023 HOMECOMING PARADE

EL PASO, TEXAS – The El Paso Sheriff’s Office Community Services and the Traffic Division participated in the 2023 Mountain View High School Homecoming Parade on Thursday, September 14, 2023. This year’s parade theme was “Vamos a La Playa.” The procession commenced at Mountain View High School went through the residential neighborhoods and concluded at Mountain View High School.

The educational institution organized a pep rally at the Lobos Den Football Stadium, observing various customary school practices, including paying tribute to the distinguished “honored ex”, performances by the cheer and dance teams and culminating in a magnificent fireworks exhibition. This year, the Honored Alum was our own Deputy Jorge Torres from the Class of 2012, CONGRATULATIONS!

It was a privilege to partake in the event alongside the esteemed presence of the Sheriff’s Office 2015 Ford Explorer commemorating our fallen Deputy Peter John Herrera, and our newly purchased 2023 Ford F-150 from the Traffic Division. Ms. Elizabeth Saenz, Student Activity Director at Mountain High School, oversaw the well-coordinated event. Additionally, an immense gratitude to Ms. Lakesha Smith’s Law Enforcement students for walking and riding alongside the Sheriff’s Office vehicles.

Furthermore, we would like to extend special recognition to the entire Mountain View High School staff, the student body, and the community of Montana Vista for ensuring the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s participation in this significant community event. The school upholds its motto, “Lobos Will Be Heard.” Mountain View you were heard last night, thank you, Lobos, for your efforts.

Most Wanted Fugitives Week of September 15, 2023 (Early Submission)

EL PASO, TEXAS – Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature.  The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful.  The agencies submit these fugitives to Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., which distributes them to the news media and offers the use of the Crime Stoppers hotline for information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives.  Anyone with information on the location of any of these fugitives should call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at (915) 566-8477 (TIPS), or submit the information on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.  You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward.  Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., is a non-profit organization that brings together the community, law enforcement, and the media to solve crime.

PETER J. HERRERA CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS TARGETED RESPONSE UNIT ARREST – ARMANDO BEJARANO JR.

September 14, 2023

El Paso, Texas – UPDATE – On September 13, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station Criminal Investigations Targeted Response Unit (CITRU) received information of two active criminal warrants on 36-year-old Armando Bejarano Jr. for Theft of Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle. Bejarano is known to have an extensive criminal history involving thefts of motor vehicles and evading in the El Paso County area. CITRU deputies and agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) made contact at 720 Fray Vargas Road in El Paso County and located Bejarano. Bejarano was taken into custody without further incident and was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail with a total bond of $35,000.00.

El Paso, Texas - On August 20, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the East Montana Patrol Station were dispatched to a call reference to a theft of a vehicle in the Horizon area. Throughout further investigation, Deputies discovered that unknown subjects took the reporter’s ATV (Can-Am) without effective consent. Throughout further investigation, Detectives from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station determined Bejarano was responsible for depriving the reporter of the Can-Am.

El Paso, Texas - On August 10, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station were dispatched to a call reference a theft of a vehicle in the San Elizario area. Throughout further investigation, Deputies from the Peter John Herrera Patrol Station Criminal Investigations Targeted Response Unit (CITRU) observed Bejarano possessing the reporter’s ATV without effective consent in the Horizon area. CITRU Deputies attempted a traffic stop on Bejarano; however, they refused to stop and fled in the ATV. CITRU Deputies generated a warrant for evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle and was later arrested on August 22, 2023. Bejarano posted a bond and was released on August 23, 2023.

FOOD DRIVE AT PURPLE HEART ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

September 12, 2023

El Paso, Texas – On September 12, 2023, the food drive occurred at Purple Heart Elementary School in El Paso, TX. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service Section collaborated with the United American Veterans Organization for this occasion. Lisa Gutierrez, the school's C.I.S. Coordinator and Parent Liaison, was responsible for organizing the monthly food drive. Roberto Garza, the President of the U.A.V.O., also contributed to coordinating the event. The school's location can be found at 14400 GR Campuzano Dr. El Paso, TX.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the U.A.V.O. have recently declared their joint endeavors to augment community engagement in El Paso County. This alliance aims to cultivate a more robust rapport between law enforcement and the local veteran community, fostering mutual comprehension, assistance, and the objective of upholding a safe and secure environment for everyone.
