Felonies/Misdemeanors

The Public Defender’s Office represents adults, when appointed by the Court. Our attorneys represent adults charged with misdemeanors in front of County Court at Law judges. Our attorneys represent adults charged with felonies in front of District Court judges.

We represent adults on:

• Class A misdemeanors which is punishable up to one year in jail and/or up to a $4,000.00 fine,
• B misdemeanor which is punishable up to six (6) months in jail and/or up to a $2,000.00 fine,
• First degree felony which is punishable by five (5) to ninety-nine (99) years in a state prison and/or a fine up to $10,000.00,
• Second degree felony which is punishable by two (2) to twenty (20) years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000,
• Third degree felony which is punishable by two (2) to ten (10) years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000,
• State jail felony which is punishable by one hundred eighty (180) days to two (2) years in state jail and/or a fine up to $10,000
• Probation Violations,
• DWI court, and
• WRSAT, SAFP, Adult Drug Court, Veteran’s Court.

The juvenile system’s focus is rehabilitation, and our team works with clients and their families to understand the challenges each child and their support system face, to present compelling arguments to the Court.
