Benefits
The County of El Paso sponsors a Health and Dental Benefits Plan. The Plan includes Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Benefits using funds from the County’s Risk Pool Fund. The Fiduciaries of the Fund is the County’s Risk Pool Board, which was established by Commissioners Court pursuant to Chapter 172 of the Texas Local Government Code. The Benefits Plan is administered by a Third Party Administrator, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. These benefits are not privately insured with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas or any of its affiliates as the County is a self-funded entity. As a self-funded entity, the County affords a major portion of the contributions necessary to properly fund these benefits and to make them available and affordable to County Employees and their eligible dependents.
