El Paso County Veterans Assistance Heroes Project

To provide financial assistance for Veterans, Veterans Dependents and Surviving Spouses.
The El Paso County Veterans Assistance Heroes Project provides housing and utility assistance for in-need Veterans and their families throughout El Paso County.
El Paso County Veterans Assistance Heroes Project provides one-time emergency assistance to qualified active duty Military, separated Veterans – who received a Honorable; General Under Honorable or Other Than Honorable (OTH) discharge.  Dependents and Surviving Spouses of Veterans.
Anyone requesting assistance is thoroughly vetted by the El Paso County Veterans Assistance Program to ensure funds are provided to those facing the greatest hardships.
Applicants are required to demonstrate financial hardships by presenting documentation of emergency circumstances or unexpected expenditures in addition to financial records, unpaid lease agreements and/or utilities bills with the following:

  • Active Duty/Reserve/National Guard present current military identification card; inactive Veterans present DD-214 with type of discharge;

  • Dependents present current identification card or spouse DD-214;

  • Surviving Spouses of Veterans present spouse DD-214, marriage license, death certificate, and VA award letter.

General Assistance applications and the list of required documents are located below. The documents can be downloaded or printed in order to be completed and submit to the program coordinator.
