  • Commander Ortez
  • Commander Frank Ortez (Special Operations Division) began his career with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in 1987 upon completing 4 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to the Detention Facility as a Detention Officer. Detention Officer Ortez then attended the Peace Officer's Academy in 1988 and was assigned to the Lower Valley Patrol Station as a Deputy. While still assigned to the Lower Valley, Deputy Ortez was appointed a Field Training Officer. In 1991 Deputy Ortez was assigned to the Crime Prevention section as a Crime Prevention Specialist & D.A.R.E. Officer. Deputy Ortez was promoted to Detective in 1995 and assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Crimes Against Properties Section. Detective Ortez was then promoted to Sergeant also in 1995 and assigned to the Vinton Patrol Station. From that point, Sergeant Ortez was re-assigned to the Lower Valley Patrol Station where he remained until 2002. Sergeant Ortez was then assigned to Central Patrol in charge of the R.A.P.T.O.R. Section. In 2003 Sergeant Ortez was assigned to Criminal Investigations Civil Section. In 2005, Sergeant Ortez was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the El Paso County Jail Annex as a Shift Commander. In 2007, Lieutenant Ortez was assigned to the Montana Patrol Station as the Station Commander. In 2008 Lieutenant Ortez was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as Commander of the Civil Process and Criminal Warrants Sections. On January 1, 2009, Lieutenant Ortez was appointed to the rank of Commander and assigned to the Jail Annex Division.
  • Commander Ortez is a graduate of the 198th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy and the 72nd Drug Unit Commander's Academy. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Park University and earned his Master's Degree from Sul Ross State University. Commander Ortez is married to his wife Debbi, and has two sons, Richard and Bryan.
