  • Courthouse Security
  • The Courthouse Security Section has the responsibility of preserving the security and safety of the County Courthouse and all persons enteringthe building. The courthouse security staff consists of five Deputy Sheriff’s and eight County Security Officers. Our section responds to numerous calls and situations that occur within the building on any given day, such as fire alarms, wanted persons, disturbances within the different offices and courts. We also maintain control and order of the 1.2 million people that enter annually. Courthouse security officers intercept and prevent potential weapons from entering the courthouse with a diligent screening process. Weapons range from handguns, knives, scissors, clubs, screwdrivers and other items that could have potentially caused harm to any particular individual. The ever-present terrorist threat as well as the escalating border violence has kept the courthouse security section focused on their responsibility to preserve the security and safety of the El Paso County Courthouse, its employees, and citizens of our County who conduct daily business in the building.
