The meetings are for the purpose of working with the Community Outreach Coordinator of the Office of New Americans. The meeting attendees are comprised of diverse skills and experiences. Meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and are open to the public. Contact us for more information.

1. The meetings shall be called the ‘community meetings. Las reuniones se llamaran "reuniones comunitarias".
2. Purpose, Scope of Work and Benefit (II. Propósito, Alcance del Trabajo y Beneficio) The Advisory Committee is created as a standing committee for the purpose of working with the Community Outreach Coordinator of the Office of New Americans. The committee shall limit its activities to advising on matters that directly concern the agency programs, grants, and outreach efforts. The Committee shall have no legal responsibilities and is formed to give advice and recommendations. It cannot compel the staff to act on its recommendations or feedback.

The member can be a tremendous influence and complement to the effectiveness of the Community Outreach Coordinator as he/she/mx works to carry out specific and complex roles. 3. Exclusions (Exclusiones):
   Decision Making- Advisory members shall have no power to make decisions about the organization. They cannot outline rules for how the organization operate, give employees instructions or give directives to the Community Outreach Coordinator.

   Spokesperson- Advisory members shall not speak on behalf of the organization. This includes speaking to the press or discussing confidential business matters with employees, clients or vendors. Any requests from the media or for public comments on the programs and initiatives of the Office of New Americans shall be forwarded to the Community Outreach Coordinator.

4. Membership (Afiliación)
   Composition: The advisory committee shall consist of least six members. Members will be selected and appointed by the Community Outreach Coordinator and other County Officials. Committee members will constitute a cross-section of the low-income community, public and private sectors.

5. Organizational Structure (Estructura Organizativa)
   The Community Outreach Coordinator shall appoint a President of the Committee and serve as an exofficio representative to Committee.

6. Procedural Rules (Reglas de Procedimiento)
   Meetings: The committee will meet at least six times per year. Once every other month on the following tentative dates: November 20th, January 15th, March 19th, May 21nd, July 16th, and September 17th. In addition to meeting six times per year on listed months, Community Outreach Coordinator or other member of the committee can call for additional meetings to address emerging issues or to finalize special projects. Written notices of upcoming meetings will be emailed to members at least seven days before a meeting. Meeting shall be held at the Family Youth Services Building at 6314 Delta Drive 79905 unless, due to extenuating circumstances, may be scheduled at other county facilities.
   
   Reuniones: El comité se reunirá al menos seis veces al año. Una vez cada dos meses en las siguientes fechas tentativas: 20 de noviembre, 15 de enero, 19 de marzo, 21 de mayo, 16 de julio y 17 de septiembre. Además de reunirse seis veces al año en los meses enumerados, el Coordinador de Alcance Comunitario u otro miembro del comité puede convocar reuniones adicionales para abordar problemas emergentes o para finalizar proyectos especiales. Agenda: For each meeting, a list of upcoming projects/initiatives will be listed on the agenda. Members of the Advisory Committee will have opportunities for respectful and open discussions about said topic and will be able to make recommendations. Recommendations for each topic, project, initiative will be listed in the meeting minutes.

Minutes: Minutes of each meeting will be kept. An electronic copy will be emailed to the Community Outreach Coordinator and the rest of the members within two weeks after a meeting.
