El Paso, Texas – On July 31, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies received information on the location of a wanted individual.

Deputies conducted an investigation at a hotel located on the 2500 block of Joe Battle Blvd. and took Cameron Charles Covington, age 22 into custody.

Covington was wanted on three outstanding warrants for Evading Detention, Assault by Threat and Failure to Identify.

On July 17, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies working an off-duty assignment at the Walmart located at 8401 Gateway West Blvd. encountered Covington as he was making threats towards a Walmart employee.

Covington was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a 2,500 bond.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS SUBJECT FOLLOWING VEHICLE THEFT

July 31, 2020

El Paso, TX – On July 18, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 13200 block of Emerald Hill in reference to a vehicle theft.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim and learned two unknown offenders arrived at the residence and took the vehicle without their consent.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the offenders as Erik Marquez, age 31, and Gabriela Bueno, age 29.

Marquez was located in custody at the El Paso County Detention Facility and was re-booked for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle with a $5,000.

An additional warrant was issued for Gabriela Bueno for Theft of Vehicle, anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 915-832-4408 or 9-1-1. No other information is available at this time.

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from the community in locating Zed Camarillo.

Camarillo previously reported a change of address claiming relocation within the El Paso city limits. He failed to register/verify with the El Paso Police Department his whereabouts are unknown and has been labeled as Absconded. He is a registered sex offender following an adjudication of Sexual Assault of a Child 3rd Degree out of the State of Nebraska, the victim being a 13-year-old female.

Tettleton previously reported a change of address claiming relocation within the El Paso city limits. He failed to register/verify with the El Paso Police Department his whereabouts are unknown and has been labeled as Absconded. He is a registered sex offender following a conviction of Attempted Aggravated Indecent Solicitation of a Child out of the State of Kansas, the victim being a 13-year-old female.

July 30, 2020

El Paso, TX – On July 30, 2020, at approximately 1:00am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of one individual.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop of a pick-up truck on the 12800 block of Iron Falls in Horizon Texas, as a result of the traffic stop Rodrigo Alonso Moreno-Acosta, age 34 was found to be in possession of several plywood sheets. The investigation determined Moreno removed the plywood sheets without the owner’s consent from a home under construction in the nearby subdivision.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Moreno’s home and additional stolen construction materials were located from previous investigations.

Moreno was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Theft of Property >=$750 <$2500 and two counts of Theft of Property >=$100<$750 totaling $3,500 in bonds.

July 30, 2020

El Paso, TX – On July 29, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station responded to the 100 block of Mezcla in Fabens, Texas in reference to a family violence call.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim and learned that her boyfriend Arturo Chavez, age 18, had assaulted her. Chavez was subsequently located inside the residence hiding in a closet.

Chavez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on five outstanding criminal warrants for Evading Arrest, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and two counts of Criminal Mischief>=$100<$750 totaling $36,500 in bonds.

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from the community in locating Roberto Enrique Ahumada.

During a home verification check, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice learned that Ahumada no longer resided at the registered address and his whereabouts are unknown.

He is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Fail to Comply with Sex Offenders Duty to Register is forthcoming. He is a registered sex offender following a conviction of Sexual Assault, the victim being an adult female.

UPDATE

On July 27, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office obtained an additional warrant for Theft of Property as a result of the investigation. On July 28, 2020, Moreno was located at his residence located on the 13000 block of Sparks and was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Theft of Property >= $2500<$30000 with a 25,000 bond.

July 23, 2020

El Paso, Texas – On July 22, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 1400 block of Glaze in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim and learned that an unknown offender entered the property and without their consent removed a utility trailer from the property.

Through the course of the investigation, investigators located the stolen utility trailer while in possession by Omar Ivan Moreno, age 38.

Additionally, detectives recovered a Bobcat, two Dodge Pickup trucks, a Ford F150, and an industrial welder machine that were previously reported stolen in different cases.

Moreno was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle with a 10,000 bond.

No other information is available at this time the case remains ongoing and pending additional charges.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATES AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

July 20, 2020

El Paso, Texas – On July 19, 2020, at approximately 1:00 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight in progress with reported shots fired on the 1490 block of S. Darrington in El Paso County Texas.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a large party was being hosted at a vacant warehouse. One victim Thomas Baylor West, was transported to a local area hospital after suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his buttocks.

No other information is available at this time, the investigation remains ongoing.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that social gatherings of ten or more individuals are a violation of Governor Abbott’s Executive Order issued July 2, 2020.

As a result of the closure of bars and night clubs as ordered by the governor, this location and other similar establishments are being used to host large parties. The community is encouraged to report violations of the executive order by calling 9-1-1 or submitting anonymous tips online.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS INDIVIDUAL FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

On June 23, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 13000 block of Pellicano in reference to the theft of a vehicle.

The victim advised that their Chevy S10 truck was taken by an unknown offender from the nearby desert area.

As a result of the investigation, the vehicle was located at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office impound lot after being seized from the Aggravated Assualt case from July 16, 2020.

The cases are unrelated, Rangel was in possession of the Chevy S10 truck when the Aggravated Assault occurred.

On July 30, 2020, Rangel remains in custody at the El Paso County Detention Facility and was re-booked for Unauthorized use of Motor Vehicle with a $10,000 bond.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS INDIVIDUAL FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

July 17, 2020

El Paso, Texas – On July 16, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives assigned to Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station responded to the area of Kentwood Ave. and Ascencion St. in reference to Aggravated Assault. 

Upon arrival, deputies and detectives received information that Oscar David Rangel, age 37, had shot at another individual and fled into the desert area. Subsequently, deputies located Rangel along with a gun hidden in his vehicle.

Rangel was taken into custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and an additional outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon totaling $60,000 in bonds.

July 8, 2020

El Paso, Texas – On July 5, 2020, at approximately 3:30 am., Socorro City Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 10000 block of North Loop Dr. in reference to a welfare check. Officers arrived and located a deceased female who was later identified as 52-year-old Marta Reyna.

At approximately 6:30 am the El Paso County Sheriff`s Office Major Crimes Unit arrived at the scene and took over the investigation from the Socorro City Police Department.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim’s husband 53-year-old Sergio Reyna was responsible for her death. Reyna fled to Mexico and Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives secured an arrest warrant charging Reyna with Murder.

On July 7, 2020, at approximately 6:30 pm Reyna returned to the United States and was taken into custody at the Ysleta Port of Entry by Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives. Reyna was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $1,000.000.00 Bond

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the assistance of the El Paso County community in locating the following missing person. On July 4, 2020, 62 year-old Santos Uriel Navarro was last seen leaving his residence located in the 13500 block of Emma in El Paso County Texas at approximately 9:00 pm. He was wearing a black sleeveless shirt and blue jeans, weighs approximately 150 lbs with a slim build, is 5’9” tall, and may require of medical attention.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Navarro is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 915-832-4408 or 9-1-1.

El Paso, Texas – On July 2, 2020, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Northwest Patrol Station responded to the 7100 block of Doniphan Dr., in Canutillo, Texas in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim’s vehicle was burglarized by an unknown offender.

Through the course of the investigation, deputies identified and located Luis Alfredo Urbina, age 25, in possession of the victim’s property. Urbina was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Burglary of Vehicle with a $2,500 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to lock your vehicle, trunk or tailgate and to take the keys with you. Close all windows and remove or secure and hide cellphones, stereos, valuables, wallets, purses, and packages.

July 6, 2020

El Paso, Texas – On July 4, 2020, the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of Kannermont Dr. in reference to cockfighting.

Animal Welfare Officers determined that cockfighting had occurred at the residence and notified the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Animal Welfare detectives adopted the case and took over the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the residence, investigators located a cockfighting ring, several roosters including injured and deceased roosters along with other implements of cockfighting.

Juan Eduardo Montanes age 30, was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Cockfighting with a $5,000.00 bond.

The El Paso County Animal Welfare Department took custody of the roosters that remained on the property.
