Murder Suspect arrested at Rio Grande

El Paso, Texas – On March 29th, 2022, Border Patrol arrested a murder suspect after his truck got stuck trying to drive across the river in his SUV. The man was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and was jailed awaiting extradition to Kansas. He is identified as 32 years old Patricio Gomez.

Congratulations, Sergeant Wright!

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Sul Ross State University held its 34th Annual Alumni Gala: Honoring the 2020 & 2022 Distinguished Alumni and Athletics Hall of Honor Inductees. Sergeant Andre Wright and his teammates of the 2004 Sweet Sixteen Men’s Basketball Team were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Honor Class of 2022. The 2004 men’s basketball team finished 21-9 and 11-3 in conference. They were nearly undefeated at home with a 14-1 record. It was the second straight West Division title and first ASC Championship. It also marked the first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS MEET-AND-GREET FABENS DISTRICT STAFF

El Paso, Texas- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Fabens Independent School District would like to introduce the three newest School Resource Officers (SRO). The agreement between the Sheriff’s Office and the Fabens School District is in effect until the end of the 2025 school year. The SRO’s will provide not only security at the campus’ but serve are mentors for the students while providing training on topics such as narcotics identification, dating violence, run-hide-fight, as well as other topics for both students, staff, and parents.

SRO’s will be available for all after-hour school activities such as parent-teacher conferences, sporting events, and graduations just to name a few. During school breaks the SRO's will work with the campus counselors to identify students that are at risk of not meeting graduation requirements and recruit students to participate in the Back on Track program that works to challenge students to recover lost credits while participating in various summer activities with the campus SRO.

The new School Resource Officers were introduced at the Fabens ISD board and community board meeting yesterday at 7:00 pm. at 821 NE G Ave., Fabens, Texas.

Featured Fugitives Are Apprehended-MUNOZ AND LOZANO

EL PASO, TEXAS – David Armando Munoz and Michael Lozano, who were featured on the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted for the week of March 25, 2022, have been apprehended.  Munoz was wanted for THEFT OF PROP < $2,500 2/MORE PREV CONV, and Lozano was wanted for INJURY TO CHILD/ ELDERLY/ DISABLED W/ INT BODILY INJURY.

THEFT AND WARRANT ARREST – Luis RAMIREZ

March 28, 2022

El Paso, Texas - On Friday, March 25th, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies from the Peter J. Herrera Station were dispatched to the Family Dollar Store, located at the 12200 block of Socorro Rd, in reference to theft. When Deputies arrived at the scene, within minutes they were able to locate 29-year-old Luis Ramirez. He matched the description of the suspect who stole property from the store. Through their investigation, deputies were able to effectively arrest Ramirez for theft. Ramirez was booked into the El Paso County Jail for Theft of Property <$2,500 (2/More Previous Convictions) under a $3,000 bond. Ramirez also had an active warrant for Alias Capias/Personal Recognize/Driving while Intoxicated under a $15,000 bond.

El Paso, Texas - On March 22, 2022, Offender Brian Joseph Jones was taken into custody by the El Paso Police Department on the 9500 Block of North Loop and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

El Paso, Texas – On February 14, 2022, Brian Joseph Jones absconded from the El Paso Multi-Use Facility located in Horizon El Paso Texas. He absconded by walking out of the facility and his whereabouts are now unknown. He is now wanted on a Parole Violation and an additional charge of Sex Offenders' Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense is for Indecency with a Child/Contact, the victim being a 13-year-old female and is currently on parole for Failure to Comply W/Registration Requirements W/ Previous Conviction.

El Paso, Texas - On March 17, 2022, Alfredo Garza was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Facility.

El Paso, Texas – On February 7th, 2022, Alfredo Garza absconded from the El Paso Multi-Use Facility located in Horizon, El Paso, TX. After reporting to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office SORT Unit, he failed to return to the facility, his whereabouts are unknown, and is now wanted on a Parole Violation. An additional charge of Sex Offenders' Duty to Register is forthcoming. His sex offense is for Indecency with a Child/Contact out of the State of Texas the victim is a 7-year -old female and is currently on parole for Sex Offenders Duty to Register.

Motor Vehicle Accident On WILDCAT DR. & Sandia Rd. In Anthony TX.

March 23, 2022

El Paso, Texas - On March 23rd, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were requested to assist Anthony Police Department at Wildcat Dr. and Sandia Rd. in Anthony, Texas regarding a Motor Vehicle Accident involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle. One person was dead on scene at the time Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators were requested. Next of kin is yet to be notified. The Road will remain closed for the next three hours. No further information at this time.

VEHICLE THEFT AT GILLET STREET and ELK WAY

March 21, 2022

El Paso, Texas - On March 16th, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to Gillet Street and Elk Way, Canutillo, El Paso County, Texas, in reference to a vehicle theft in progress. When deputies arrived on the scene and met with the victim, she stated she observed her motor vehicle driving out of her residence driveway away from the property. The Victim said that several family members located her vehicle several blocks away from the residence and detained the Offender until Sheriff’s Deputies arrived. After further investigation, it was determined that the Offender entered the Victim’s residence, appropriated the keys to the vehicle, and took the vehicle without the Victim’s permission. The Offender was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail for Burglary of Habitation and Theft of Property

NARCAN ADMINISTERED ON TWO SUBJECTS

March 21, 2022

El Paso, Texas - On March 19, 2022, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in El Paso County, Texas, to assist Life-Ambulance. Upon arrival, the responding deputies observed one male and one female unconscious on the floor inside of the residence. Deputies conducted sternum rubs and CPR with no response. Through their training and experience, the deputies recognized that both parties were suffering from a possible drug overdose. Deputies administered one dose of NARCAN to each subject. LIFE ambulance personnel subsequently arrived, conducted CPR, and assessed the subjects. Both subjects became conscious and alert and were transported to a local area hospital for further medical evaluation.
