SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOUNDATION ANNUAL TOY DRIVE

El Paso, Texas The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Foundation is starting its annual effort to collect Christmas toys for the children in the unincorporated areas of the county. The Sheriff's Office is trying to spread some holiday joy by collecting toys for children who are less fortunate this Christmas.

New unwrapped toys or monetary donations can be dropped off with Community Service Section at El Paso County Sheriff's Office Headquarters, 3850 Justice Drive off Montana Avenue, starting tomorrow, December 1st, 2021. 

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Foundation has a goal of collecting more than 2,000 toys. Toys can also be dropped off at the various Toy Drives held from December 4th through the 12th by various local car clubs.

  • Majesty Car Club TOY DRIVE: December 5th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Twin Peaks located at the Fountains

MOST WANTED FELON CAPTURED – RAMIREZ CHRISTIAN

November 30, 2021

El Paso, Texas On November 30, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies with the Warrants & Fugitive Apprehension Unit were conducting an investigation at the 7000 block of Alameda. The investigation was in reference to a wanted felon Christian Ramirez, he was wanted for felony theft and was recently featured in the El Paso Sheriff’s Office most wanted for the week of 11-24-2021. Deputies received information that Ramirez was currently residing at that location. The Deputies arrived and made contact with the housing management and were able to confirm that Ramirez was located inside. After making contact and positively identifying Ramirez, Warrants Deputies were able to safely take him into custody. Ramirez was transported to the El Paso County Jail and booked without incident. Ramirez was booked for theft of property < $2500 with 2 previous convictions with a $50,000 bond.

Motor Vehicle Accident

Two vehicle Motor Vehicle Accident at 16000 block of north loop. Both eastbound and westbound lanes are closed. Eastbound traffic is being redirected to Webb then to Alameda to proceed eastbound. Westbound traffic is being redirected back to 3rd and camp to Alameda to continue traveling westbound.
Roads will reopen as soon as Fire Department and Life Ambulance clear.

Family Violence Call

November 24, 2021

El Paso, Texas On Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station met with a brave family in San Elizario to donate a well-deserved Thanksgiving dinner. The deputies of Shift D came across the Romero family during a Family Violence call on October 17th, 2021. Ms. Romero has eight (8) children. The family of nine was enjoying dinner when one of the family members was assaulted and eventually hospitalized. Ms. Romero and all of her eight children intervened and fended off the suspect until the deputies could arrive. The family was commended for their bravery and were all smiles as they received the Thanksgiving dinner. The Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind the public to please call 911 immediately when help is needed or if someone is in danger of being hurt.

THANKSGIVING TURKEY MEAL GIVEAWAY

El Paso, Texas On Saturday, November 20th, 2021, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division in partnership with County Commissioner Carl Robinson, and his staff, participated in the Annual Turkey Meal Giveaway. The event was held at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Northwest Patrol Station at 3435 Vinton Rd. Vinton. A total of 200 families received a turkey basket with all the sides and produce, which was donated by a big supporter to this community Mr. Delgado from Quality Foods. The food distribution was done through a drive-through event, making the event safe and fast. Families were happy and very grateful. Thank you, Commissioner Robinson and Mr. Delgado, for your contribution to the El Paso Community.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Community Leader and friend of law enforcement Ms. Dede Rogers prepared 200 Ham baskets to help families in the County of El Paso.   The Sheriff’s Office worked closely with the county schools to identify families who would benefit from this blessing.  Ham baskets included a Ham, dressing, can goods, bread, plus produce provided by Quality Foods – grapes, oranges, apples and potatoes.   On Sunday, November 21st Commissioner Iliana Holguin joined us to help pass out the baskets to the families.

On behalf of Sheriff Wiles and the Sheriff’s Office we thank Dede Rogers, Nick Delgado and Commissioner Holguin for helping make families happy throughout the holidays.

NARCOTIC SMUGGLING AND POSSESSION OF FIREARM – ANTHONY MARCUS MATA

November 18, 2021

El Paso, Texas - On November 1, 2021, the El Paso Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit started an investigation in reference to a narcotics smuggling case at the El Paso County Jail. During the investigation, it was discovered that letters being sent to inmates at the Jail were found to be laced in a synthetic cannabinoid, commonly known as K2/Spice. The Narcotics Unit was able to identify Anthony Marcus Mata, age 26 as the individual responsible for sending the letters. A warrant of arrest was obtained for Mata for Man/DEL CS PG2A>=4G<400G.

El Paso, Texas - On November 17, 2021, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit was able to locate Anthony Marcus Mata. He was taken into custody without incident near a residence located at the 3600 block of Alhambra. At the time of his arrest, it was discovered that Mata was in possession of a rifle. As a convicted felon, Mata is unable to possess a firearm. Mata was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Mata was subsequently booked on both charges into the El Paso County Jail with a total bond of $60,000

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT 12200 GATEWAY WEST UNDERPASS

November 17, 2021

El Paso, Texas - On November 17, 2021, at approximately 7:45, am, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to block of 12200 Gateway West at the underpass to a Single Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival, Deputies found a vehicle had lost control. The two occupants in the vehicle were transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON ALAMEDA AVE. (Vehicle vs. Pedestrian)–UPDATE

November 11, 2021

UPDATE: El Paso, Texas - The driver of the vehicle that had struck the pedestrian remained on the scene and provided aid however the pedestrian had passed due to his injuries. Investigation revealed the pedestrian had failed to yield to traffic on the roadway. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

El Paso, Texas - On November 10, 2021, at approximately 6:00 pm., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 12900 block of Alameda Ave. in reference to a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival Deputies found a Vehicle had hit a male who had no signs of life. Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators are currently working the case. It is known the driver of the vehicle did stop to render aid. Currently there is a road closure on the 12900 block of Alameda Ave. for approximately 4 hours. Traffic is been routed to Velasco Way and McKinney St. Investigation is ongoing and no further information at this time

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH FATALITY – JUSTIN TIRADO

November 10, 2021

El Paso, Texas - On July 03, 2021, at approximately 03:00 am, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators were requested to Interstate Highway 10, mile marker 2 in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a fatality. Investigation revealed that a Ford Explorer traveling westbound had rear-ended a Ford F-150 causing it to veer off the roadway and rollover. The driver of the Ford F-150 was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The driver of the Ford Explorer had fled the scene on foot before responding deputies arrived. Through investigation, the driver was identified as Justin Tirado. He was booked at the El Paso County Jail for Warrants for Manslaughter and Accident Involving Death. He was taken into custody on November 10, 2021, by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Warrants Section with a $150,000.00 bond.

Vehicle accident involving Sheriff Deputy

NEWS RELEASE:  El Paso, Texas – On Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 12:50 El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatch to the 15000 Block of Ashford reference a vehicle accident involving a Sheriff Deputy.   Preliminary investigation shows the Sheriff Deputy was traveling South on Ashford, when a Silver Nissan Frontier traveling North turned West on Emerald Ranch failing to yield the right a way to the Sheriff Unit.  The passenger of the Nissan and the Deputy were transported to a local area hospital with non-life injuries.  The Special Traffic Investigators are currently investigation the accident.  No further information at this time.

MOST WANTED TAKEN INTO CUSTODY Marco Antonio Briseno

November 3, 2021

El Paso, Texas – On November 1, 2021, at 12:00 pm, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies from the Fugitive Warrants Section arrived at Motel 6 located at 1330 Lomaland, El Paso County, TX. to locate Fugitive Marco Antonio Briseno. He was featured on the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted on October 29, 2021.

At 12:30 pm. Sheriff's Deputies observed the Fugitive exit the motel room. Before the fugitive could enter a vehicle, he was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the El Paso County Jail and booked on 3 Felony warrants, UNATHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE; POSS CS PG 1 >=4G<200G IAT and THEFT OF PROPERTY >+$2,500<$30K.
