PAWS IN DETENTION ATTEND HORIZON HIGH SCHOOL CAREER DAY

El Paso, TexasOn April 28, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office PAWS Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (P.A.W.S.) in the Detention section attended Horizon High School for a Career Day. Students and staff learned about the P.A.W.S. program and how to become a Detention Officer or a Deputy. Officer Banda and Chavez and P.A.W.S. Canine Cadet Biggie attended the event and conducted demonstrations on basic commands. Canine Cadets from the P.A.W.S. program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso by calling (915) 877-5002

Most Wanted Fugitives Week of April 28, 2023

EL PASO, TEXAS – Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., distributes fugitives wanted by the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office every week through the Most Wanted feature.  The attached fugitives are individuals, where attempts in locating them for one reason or another have been unsuccessful.  The agencies submit these fugitives to Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., which distributes them to the news media and offers the use of the Crime Stoppers hotline for information regarding the whereabouts of these fugitives.  Anyone with information on the location of any of these fugitives should call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at (915) 566-8477 (TIPS), or submit the information on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.  You will remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward.  Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., is a non-profit organization that brings together the community, law enforcement, and the media to solve crime.

FUGITIVE APPREHENSION UNIT AREST– ALEJANDRO SOLTERO

April 28, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 19, 2023, the Fugitive Apprehension Unit received information on a subject identified as 29-year-old Alejandro Soltero, who had an outstanding felony criminal warrant for Robbery. Deputies arrived at 11100 Skipper El Paso County, Texas, and attempted to locate the subject at his residence but were told he no longer lived there. However, deputies obtained his phone number and had Soltero turn himself in at the El Paso County Jail. On April 26, 2023, Mr. Soltero met with Deputies and self-surrendered, and was subsequently booked under a $25,000.00 bond without further incident.

FUGITIVE APPREHENSION UNIT AREST– BRYAN ARMENDARIZ

April 28, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 27, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit received an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Bryan Armendariz. Armendariz was wanted for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child Sexual Contact. Warrants Deputies located him at his residence at the 8300 block of Mt. Latona in El Paso County, TX. Armendariz was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under the outstanding warrants with a $35,000 bond.

THEFT OF PROPERTY AND BURGLARY OF VEHICLE - ANGEL SALAZAR

April 27, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 23rd, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Montana Patrol Station responded to the 3500 block of Mark Jason Dr., in reference to the theft of a motor vehicle. Deputies were able to locate and apprehend the subject, who had fled into the desert area when the stolen vehicle got stuck in the sand. The subject was identified as 17-year-old Angel Salazar. Salazar was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail, where he was charged with Theft of Property >=$2,500<$30k and Burglary of Vehicle with a total bond of $15,000.

James R Vasquez Head Start presentation

El Paso, TexasOn April 21st, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office did a presentation for the students at James R. Vasquez Head Start. The presentation was on the importance of making good decisions. In addition, the Officer spoke about what a Detention Officer is and what the job duties entail. The Kids were excited to see the Officer in uniform and had many questions. The teacher, parents, and school staff were very appreciative.

WALK FOR WISHES

El Paso, TexasOn Sunday, April 23th, 2023, the Make a Wish Foundation hosted Walk for Wishes at Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta. Walk For Wishes supports granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. It is a family-friendly event powered by wish families, volunteers, companies, donors, and friends. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service Section, the Sheriff's Explorer Post # 2005, and the El Paso County Sheriff's Officers Association assisted with set up, distributing fruit and water to the participants, and grilling courtesy of the Association.

ATV ACCIDENT ON KIELY Rd. IN VINTON

April 22, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 22, 2023, at approximately 9:20 pm., El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Douglas Rd. and Kiely Rd. in Vinton, Texas, in reference to an ATV accident with serious injuries. One male was transported to the local area hospital. Special Traffic Investigators were requested to the scene. No further information is available at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.

EVADING AND PUBLIC INTOXICATION ARREST

April 22, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 21st, 2023, at approximately 1:08 p.m. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Northwest Patrol Station were dispatched to the 800 block of Coach Rd., El Paso County, TX., in reference to a subject disturbing. Upon arrival, deputies observed two male subjects squared off in a fighting position. While making contact with the male subjects, one subject fled from deputies leading to a foot pursuit. The fleeing male subject was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody.

The subject was identified as 22-year-old Israel Perez. The offender was booked into the El Paso County Jail under the following charges: Evading Arrest or Detention ($ 1500.00 Bond) and Public Intoxication ($500.00 Bond).

Coffee with a Deputy Day

El Paso, TexasOn Thursday, April 20th, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the East Montana Patrol Station were invited to Coffee with a Deputy Day by the Starbucks at 12161 Eastlake. Deputies were greeted by Starbucks personnel with food and Coffee. Deputies used this opportunity to communicate with the public and answer any questions or concerns. Deputies also took the opportunity to work closely with the employees by taking and making orders as they came in. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s goal is to build a better relationship with the community by meeting with them at all these events. The East Montana Patrol Station would like to thank the Starbucks personnel for being very welcoming during their visit.

H.O.P.E + Initiative Health Fair AT Kelly Center for Hunger Relief

El Paso, TexasOn April 19, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Victim Services Unit attended the H.O.P.E and Initiative Health Fair at the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief. The members of the Victim Services Unit informed the community of the services and resources available within the section. In addition, over 100 community members stopped by the booth and were provided with brochures and goodies from the Sheriff's Office.

FUGITIVE APPREHENSION UNIT ARREST – ADAM VASQUEZ

El Paso, TexasOn April 18, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Unit located 38-year-old Adam Vasquez. Vasquez was wanted for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more. Deputies made contact with him at his residence located at 700 block of Delhi Dr., El Paso County, TX. Vasquez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the El Paso County Jail with a $40,000 bond.

SAMS CLUB 40th BIRTHDAY

El Paso, TexasOn Saturday, April 15, 2023, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Services Section partnered with Sams Club at 7970 N. Mesa, El Paso, TX, to celebrate their 40th birthday, which included live music, food trucks, and car shows. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office participated by displaying the 2005 GMC Hummer 2 and the 2015 Ford Explorer Interceptor, which has window tint in dedication and memory of our fallen Deputy Peter John Herrera.
