ATV ACCIDENT IN DESERT AREA

October 30, 2021

UPDATE El Paso, Texas -On October 30th, 2021, at 6:00 pm the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to an accident in the desert area east of 375 west of sheriffs office. Upon arriving they found a 10 year old driving an ATV had collided with a razor. Female was transported to local area hospital.  Her condition is serious but she is in stable condition. No one else was transported.  Accident is still under investigation no other information at this time.

RED RIBBON WEEK PRESENTATIONS – FABENS ELEMENTARY

October 29, 2021

El Paso, Texas - On October 27, 2021, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office PAWS in Detention section attended Fabens Elementary Red Ribbon Rally located 1200 Mike Maros, Fabens, Texas. Students and Staff learned about the PAWs program and how it allows inmates to obtain vocational training. Along with providing homeless/Rescue pets an opportunity to be adopted. Paws Officers and with PAWs Canine Cadet Bailey attended the October 27, 2021 event. Officers and the Canine Cadet conducted demonstrations on basic commands.

Canine Cadets from the PAWs program can be adopted through the Animal Rescue League of El Paso by calling (915) 877-5002.

RED RIBBON WEEK PRESENTATIONS Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia Elementary - Stanton Elementary - Park Elementary - Davenport Elementary - Clint High School

El Paso, Texas - During this week, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies from the Northwest Patrol Station, conducted several “Drug Awareness” presentations at the following schools: “Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia” Elementary, “Stanton” Elementary, “Park” Elementary, “Davenport” Elementary and “Clint” High School. Students and staff from all these schools were very appreciative of the Sheriff’s Office for going to their schools and educating them about the dangers and consequences of using drugs.

EMERALD ESTATES NEIGHBOORHOOD WATCH MEETING

October 29, 2021

El Paso, Texas – On October 20th, 2021, The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Montana Patrol Station, Communications Section, Animal Welfare, and Commissioner Holguin attended a Neighborhood meeting hosted by the Emerald Estates Neighborhood watch. The various sections discussed responses to various calls for service, animal-related calls, and the future of county services within this rapidly growing area.

RED RIBBON WEEK Presentations – TORNILLO ELEMENTARY

October 28, 2021

El Paso, Texas – On October 26, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a drug awareness presentation during Red Ribbon week at Tornillo Elementary. During the presentations, students were reminded of the importance of making good decisions and being drug-free. Students also received tips on reporting drug abuse or possession to an adult or law enforcement officer. Students learned the history of how red ribbon week started with DEA Agent Kiki Camarena. Deputies also conducted demonstrations on their everyday duties as law enforcement officers.

MOST WANTED TAKEN INTO CUSTODY – ARATH JAUREGUI

UPDATE::: El Paso, Texas – On October 25, 2021, Arath Jaurequi was taken into custody as he attempted to enter the United States from Mexico by way of the Bridge of the Americas. Jaurequi was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE IN EAST EL PASO COUNTY

El Paso, TX – On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, just before 10:00 p.m. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the desert area near Marvin Ln. and Century Dr. in reference to an unresponsive male. Upon their arrival, deputies located the body of 19-year-old Jose Guadalupe Reazola of Horizon City, Texas. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation the Major Crimes Unit identified Arath Jaurequi 18 years of age as the person responsible for the shooting death of Jose Reazola, an Arrest Warrant charging Murder was secured for Arath Jaurequi who was believed to have fled to Mexico.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – CRYSTAL MICHELLE ALONSO

October 26, 2021

El Paso, Texas – On October 25, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies assigned to the Montana Patrol station responded to a Family Violence call at the 3700 block of Gwendolyn Dr., El Paso County Texas. Deputies conducted an investigation and discovered that a verbal argument escalated to Cristal Michelle Alonso 31 years of age producing a semi-automatic handgun and pointing at a family member. During the confrontation, a family member tried to disarm Alonso causing the semi-automatic handgun to discharge. There were no injuries as a result of the firearm discharge and Alonso was booked into the El Paso County Jail for Aggravated Assault (Family Violence) with a bond of $15,000.00.

Vehicle accident with one Fatality

NEWS RELEASE: El Paso, Texas – October 24th, 2021 at 1:15 am El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatch to 1200 block of S. Fabens Carlsbad Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a rollover where multiple occupants were ejected.  Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators were requested to the scene.  Upon arrival the investigators found four of the occupants had been ejected from the vehicle, with one occupant 16 year old female deceased at the scene due to the injuries.  All four were transported to local area hospitals for medical evaluation.

Preliminary investigation shows the red Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on this road at high rate of speed.  The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway causing the vehicle to go off the roadway into the desert which it rolled over multiple times.  At this time the investigation is still on-going, no other information is available.  Information will be release as received.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE AT THE BLOCK OF 14000 MONTANA

El Paso, Texas – On October 12, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a Theft of a Motor Vehicle at the block of 14000 Montana Ave.

Deputies were able to trace the vehicle and locate it in Fabens, Texas. Montana Patrol Station Criminal Investigations Detectives along with Peter John Herrera Station Deputies, responded to the scene and were able to identify and arrest 18-year-old Ruben Ramirez.

He was charged, with the Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, under a $40,000 bond. Ramirez also has two additional outstanding Sheriff’s Criminal Warrants for Unauthorized Use and Theft.

The Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (PAWS) in Detention Program

NEWS RELEASE: El Paso, Texas - The Pets Advancing Wellness and Success (PAWS) in Detention Program provides inmates with vocational training in basic dog handling, kennel management and dog obedience training.

Due to the Covid -19 Pandemic in 2020 the Paws Section was put on a halt.  Paws section saw the opportunity to begin an all -around remodel of the entire Paws area.  This included new kennel walls, painting of the entire structure and beautification of the landscape area.  Flower beds were also created to beautify focal points of the front lawn of the kennels.  Inmates with masonry skills also created art to the entrance of the kennels that included the state of Texas and local representation of the Star on the Franklin Mountains all done in masonry.  The final phase of the Kennels was, all new kennel fencing that was completed on 09/22/21.  This added 2 additional kennels for a total of 10 kennels and 6 dog runs.   The Paws program will be welcoming in 6 new K-9’s from the Animal Rescue League  on Tuesday 10/12/21 @ 10:30 am and also marks the startup of the vocational training in basic dog handling for Inmates.  The PAWS Kennels are located at the Jail Annex located at 12501 Montana, please let me know if you will be attending.

Motorcycle Accident – Horizon City

October 12, 2021

El Paso, Texas – On October 12, 2021, at about 7:00 am, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Patrol units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Zapata in reference to a motorcycle accident. Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Special Traffic investigations section responded and determined that the rider of the off-road dirt bike was not wearing a helmet and had crashed into a rock wall resulting in fatal injuries. The rider has been identified as 32-year-old Eric Estevez from Horizon City Texas.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to encourage motorcycle riders to wear a helmet and to never operate off-road motorcycles and ATV’s on roadways.

2021 NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

El Paso, Texas – On October 5th, 2021 El Paso County Sheriff’s Office celebrated its 10th Annual National Night out held at El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters Parking lot located at 3850 Justice Dr. El Paso, TX 79938. Due to the Covid -19 pandemic National Night Out was not celebrated in 2020. On behalf of Sheriff Wiles and the Sheriff’s Office we would like to thank all the local agencies who participated in promoting safety in our El Paso Community. Over 70 agencies and local supporters show-case their units, equipment and had games and giveaways for the public. We had over 500 attend this annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Special recognition to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section, they worked above and beyond to make this event a success. They worked hard and helped everyone set up their booth. Perfect example of “working as a team” and “serving with pride”!!

NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A DEPUTY DAY

El Paso, Texas – On October 6, 2021, El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies celebrated National Coffee with a Deputy Day at three locations throughout El Paso County. The Deputies' mission during this event is to break down the barriers between law enforcement officers and the citizens they serve. The event allows citizens to discuss issues and learn more about each other. It is a casual atmosphere and the Sheriff’s Office will be having this event throughout the year on a quarterly basis. The goal is to build trust in person, having real conversations about issues that really matter to El Paso County citizens.
