News Release: Texas Tech University Medical Students Meeting w/Deputies

On Tuesday July 13th, 2021 Sheriff's Office Deputy Juan R. Garcia and Deputy Jorge Alvillar held a meeting with medical and dental students at the Northwest Patrol Station.  The students are from the Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center in El Paso, and as part of their program they are required to visit local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and first responders to learn the type of calls the office responds to, especially medical related calls.  The students were encourage to ask questions, they did have questions in regards to the history, size and structure of The Sheriff's Office.  Students were also interested in knowing the cultural diversity of the area that patrol covers, the economic levels of the community and how COVID has affected the way calls were handled.  The students were informed on the working partnership between other agencies for example, local fire departments, medical first responders and the protocols that are followed in medical emergency calls.  The students were very grateful for the information they obtained saying it was very helpful in understanding the needs of the community since they will be serving in the future as doctors.

Have a great day,
