CAREER DAY AT BILL SYBERT

EL PASO, TEXAS – On Friday, April 14, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies from the East Montana Patrol Station and Peter John Herrera Station were invited to attend a Career Day at Bill Sybert School located at 11530 Edgemere Blvd. Deputies conducted presentations for all age groups, ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade. Deputies spoke about their experiences out in the field and what is necessary to be able to become a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies also showcased the equipment they use daily to be able to successfully perform their jobs.

Mascots at Rhino Fan Appreciation Night

El Paso, TexasOn Saturday, April 15, 2023, The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Section and Deputy Dawg participated in fan appreciation night for the last home game of the El Paso Rhinos 2022-23 season. Several mascots were also in attendance, mingled with the fans, and were invited to the annual Teddy Bear Toss, where fans toss stuffed animals on the ice after the Rhinos’ first goal. The mascots are invited to the ice to help pick up the stuffed animals.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day 2023

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will allow the public to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will have two drop-off locations;

  1. Montana Patrol Station – 12501 Montana Ave., El Paso TX 79938
  2. Vinton Patrol Station – 435 E. Vinton Suite D., Anthony, TX 79821
TERRORISTIC THREAT TO THE AMAZON BUILDING.

El Paso, TexasOn April 18, 2023, at approximately 3:30 am., El Paso County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the Amazon Fulfillment Center Located at 12191 Emerald Pass Ave., Horizon City, TX, in reference to a possible threat. Sheriff's Office deputies cleared the building, and no threat was found. No injuries were reported, all safety protocols were put in place, and no threat to the surrounding area.

INCIDENT WITH SERIOUS INJURIES ON BATAVIA ST UPDATE

During the investigation, it was discovered during the party that there was a verbal argument between two unknown male individuals. One of the male individuals pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds in the direction of others. The deceased, a 15-year-old male, has been positively identified. His name will not be released at this time. No suspect has been positively identified at this time.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division – Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. The Sheriff's Office is also asking for tips from anyone who attended the party or with knowledge of the incident.

On April 16, 2023, at approximately 1:33 am., Horizon Police Department was dispatched to the desert area of Batavia st. in Horizon City, Texas in reference to a party in the desert area where shots were fired. When officers arrived, they encountered over 200 people. The Sheriff’s Office can confirm that one adult female was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. A second juvenile male was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was requested and has taken over the investigation. The investigation is in its preliminary stages. No further information at this time.

The missing adult has been identified as 38-year-old Cybil Silva who goes by the nickname "Cici." Deputies discovered that Cybil had left her residence in the afternoon of April 10, 2023, and has yet to return home. Cybil was last seen at the Intersection of the 1000 Block of Nashua Drive and the 1100 Block of Spartan Drive. Cybil was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black leggings, and black and white shoes, and she currently has red hair. Cybil is believed to be in need of medical assistance.

Anyone with information regarding Cybil Silva's whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 915-832-4408 or 9-1-1.

Most Wanted Fugitives Week of April 14, 2023

People from the community arrived at the East Montana Patrol Station to ensure their car seats were adequate for their vehicles and, more importantly, their children. With the assistance of car seat technicians, the public was educated on adequately securing their children to prevent them from serious injuries or death. Throughout the inspections, car seat technicians replaced inadequate car seats for the children.

Fugitive Apprehension Unit Arrest- Adrian Marquez

El Paso, TexasOn Wednesday, April 12th, 2023, Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Unit conducted surveillance at 1600 block of Glenn James to apprehend 27-year-old Adrian Marquez. Marquez was wanted for two outstanding felony warrants. Deputies verified that Marquez was at the residence as he briefly stepped out of the home on two occasions. Deputies approached and attempted to speak with Marquez. Marquez initially refused to exit the residence but eventually surrendered to the Deputies. Subject Marquez was arrested and subsequently booked without further incident for Driving While Intoxicated w/ Child under 15 YOA with a $200,000.00 bond and Assault Family Violence Impeding Breath with a $10,000.00 bond.

Fugitive Apprehension Unit Arrest- Perla Cruz

April 14, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 11, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Warrants and Fugitive Apprehension Unit conducted an investigation to apprehend 42- year-old Perla Cruz. Cruz was wanted for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more. Deputies located Cruz at her residence at 4900 Pikes in El Paso, Texas. Deputies took her into custody and booked her into the El Paso County Detention Facility under warrant with a $20000.00 bond.

PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK

El Paso, TexasThe El Paso County Sheriff's Office Celebrate and Recognize "National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week." Each year, the second week of April is dedicated to men and women serving as public safety telecommunicators. This crucial role is filled by telecommunicators and dispatchers, who utilize telephones, radios, computers, and technical skills to support law enforcement and fire services throughout the city and County.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Communications Section is a 24-hr, seven days weekly operation. It provides radio communications and computer-aided dispatch to units in the field. It responds to inquiries from officers in the area regarding wanted and missing individuals, as well as verifying stolen property. In addition to Sheriff's units, Communications also provides these services to other law enforcement agencies, fire departments in the County, and the Medical Examiner's Office. Their functions are indispensable to the safety and welfare of citizens throughout the County. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Community Service Deputies visited the El Paso County Sheriff's Communications Section on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. They distributed snacks, goodies, and, most notably, a big thank you for their service.

Fugitive Apprehension Unit Arrest- SALVADOR YTUARTE

April 12, 2023

El Paso, TexasOn April 10, 2023, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit located 46-year-old Salvador Ytuarte, who was wanted for a Parole Violation/ Sex Offender. Deputies learned that Ytuarte was going to attempt to register at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office S Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Office. Deputies located Ytuarte outside the office sitting inside his vehicle. Ytuarte was taken into custody without incident and booked under the charge of Parole Violation with no bond.
