COVINGTON RIDGE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING 8272023

El Paso, Texas – On Sunday, August 27th, 2023, El Paso County Sheriff's Office Deputies with the Community Service Section attended a neighborhood watch meeting for the residents of the Covington Ridge Community. The community gathered for the Neighborhood Watch meeting at The Moonlight on Ashford St. in Horizon City, TX.

There were approximately 15 residents who attended this meeting. The meeting commenced with a presentation on the responsibilities of our Crisis Intervention Team. The team's Deputies explained their primary role, how to handle and de-escalate a situation involving a suicidal person, and the steps involved in obtaining an Emergency Detention Order to transfer the individual to a licensed physician in Texas for medical evaluation. They also discussed the primary responsibilities of the clinician who works with the C.I.T. Deputy and passed out pamphlets with information regarding the duties and responsibilities of the C.I.T. Deputies from the Community Service Section then discussed the purpose of the neighborhood watch program, which will assist the residents of the Covington Ridge Neighborhood become a safer community for them and their children.

In addition, Deputies discussed crime prevention tips to help keep the community safe. They also discussed Crime analysis from the past three months within their community. They advised the residents that if there were any law enforcement concerns, they could bring up the issue during the meeting to address and investigate it. The Community Service Section will inquire and address their concerns. Additionally, Deputies told the residents that Sheriff Richard D. Wiles is a big advocate for neighborhood watch programs and explained the importance of the relationship between Law Enforcement Officers and the community working together to prevent crime in the area.
